Okay, mileage report. Just returned from a 3 week, 4,011 mile trip. Route was Anaheim, Zion, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, North Rim Grand Canyon, Durango, Colorado Springs, North Platte Nebraska, Highmore South Dakota, the Black Hills, Devils Tower, the Little Big Horn, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Jackson, Salt Lake, Cedar City, Dolomite Campground Mt. Charleston Nevada, and finally back home. As you can see, ALL types of driving. We towed a 4,500lbs Honda Pilot the whole way, averaged 7.8 mpg, coach now has a total of 8,500 miles.

We've put a little over 2K on our 40' Tuscany with the C7. Several trips around Florida and one to Atlanta and back have yielded just a little over 8 MPG running at 65 MPH pulling a 6500 Chevy Avalanche. And we run the generator constantly in the 95+ heat this time of year...

Covering flat ground may have something to do with it as well....

Just did ~2300 miles cat C7 freightliner, generator on, TV, AC's ... Got 5.6 MPG on some tanks with hills ie up through TN and City traffic ie downtown Detroit, to 8.9 MPG on the flats of Louisiana. Econo mode is no better on fuel, it's just nicer to drive with those shift points IMHO. Keeping the RPM less than 2K seemed to help the MPG.

Just travelled from Springfield, MO to San Diego, CA on I40 to Flagstaff then down to Phoenix, Yuma, etc. Ran a/c 50% of the time and pulled our Jeep Liberty. Set cruise control at 62 mph and averaged 8.1 mpg. That is an improvement, due in part to my slowing down and the fact that the CAT is limbering up; now has 13,000+ miles on it.

Here's an interesting one. For the last 400 miles we've been traveling through the hills of PA and central NY, and south-central NY, all back roads. Went no faster than 55mph; in fact many of the miles were in 5th gear; wouldn't kick into 6th until we were totally up to 55mpg.

At these slower speeds we averaged over 9 mpg. Our last leg was 9.3 mpg. Towed the (Saturn) toad part of this time. RPM's were about 1500.

I guess at these slower speeds your mileage really improves.

Don!

Speed, weight, wind and hills are not our friends.

We just got back from our first long trip in our 05 Dynamax Grand Sport with the C7 Cat. We traveled from MA to Iowa and back. A total of 3023 miles, and consumed a total of 335 gallons of fuel. We were towing a 8000lb enclosed car trailer. I took it very easy for the first 300 miles, and got 7.2mpg. After talking to a few of my trucker friends, I was told not to baby it. The remainder of the trip was spent averaging between 65 - 75 mph which put the tach around 15 - 1900 rpm. The mileage increased and the average for the entire trip ended up at 9mpg. It is way more than I expected, and I'm very happy with it. BTW, it just turned 12K miles. Total weight of MH and trailer - 34,180lbs.

Upon coach delivery at 1300 miles my engine computer display read 7.5 MPG. Now at 11,500 miles towing a 5100# toad, the computer shows an average of 8.5 MPG. I usually drive about 60-65 MPH.

I had an 04 Journey 34h with the 350Horse C7 Cat overall average was 6.9 in the 20,000 Miles before it got totaled.

07 Meridian 34H towing Chevy HHR is averaging 7.5 - 8.0 with 6000 miles on it depending on the weather and terrain.

We just returned from the nascar races at Dover DE. With a round trip of 850 miles and 16.6 hrs on the generator we had 8.1 mpg. Total miles on engine so far is 8,136. My milage seems to be improving with each trip that I take. Last time out was 7.7 mpg.
