Hi,
I'm new here & just purchased a 2002 Gulfstream Friendship RV. Don't have any manuals. Does anyone know how I can get a chassis manual? Just trying to familiar myself with the coach. I've called GS & a Freightliner dealer but so far no luck. The GS online manual is very generic.
I have a chrome lever on the drivers side wall I bielive is the dump valve but the cover over the valve is missing. I don't know whether the arm should be forward or back. I hear an release noise when I move it forward.
New to this so any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, Chuck

I have a 1999 Chassis and here is a picture of my air dump control. Right is forward.

You should be able to see the coach get lower when the valve is in the Lower position. If you drive it in the Lower Position the ride is horrible, you have no air in the bags and are riding on the chassis, really rough, don't drive over 5 MPH and stop as soon as you know it's empty, it's dangerous.

Hi Dick,
I really appreciate your quick response. I will be taking the RV in for maintenance & would of kept it in the lower position because it was there when I got it. Are you suppose to switch to the lower position when you park the unit & level it?
Thanks again
Chuck

Freightliner has a lot of info on their web site. Look at the link below:

XC-S Chassis

It is sometimes hard to figure out what was installed by freightliner and what was done by the body builder. For example, your air dump valve does not look like the one on my holiday ramber/freightliner, but accomplishes the same goal.

If you really want to understand the freightliner chassis, check out the "Camp Freightliner". It's a 2 day class taught in Gaffney, SC. There are many postings about camp freightliner.

I always dump the Air before I level. It drops the coach about 3 inches making the steps that much lower for access and provides a more stable platform when parked. If you don't the suspension will bleed off slowly and you will be a little less level after a couple days.

BTW you really should have notice a bad ride driving with the suspension in the lower position, I mean scary bad, no suspension at all.
