The 3126 Cat is a good time tested reliable power plant. Not a race car but will get you where you are going and last a very long time if taken care of. Maintenance will depend somewhat on what mileage you have and maintenance records from the previous owner if available for things like valve adjustment, thermostats, coolant change, tranny oil and filters. Your year should have a greaseable fan hub bearing to avoid the fan bearing replacement like the later C-7's. I didn't get maintenance records when I bought my coach with the C-7 so I started from scratch and changed all the fluids like it was time to do it to have a good starting point and piece of mind. Oil changes and fuel filters will depend on the mileage you put on it, follow the Cat manual. I changed both fuel and oil once a year but I only put about 3-4K a year on it. I made sure I kept up with the oil changes and changed way before due because the C-7 injection pump will not tolerate dirty oil. Good luck, post your questions, there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum.
