If you are thinking about the FRED, you might want to look at the Tiffin RED too. A lot of coach for the money and all the benefits of a DP.

We bought our FRED in Oct 07 used. It had 3800 miles on it. We have since put about 9500 miles on and have had absolutely no issues. After owning 2 gassers this thing is phenominal. Better fuel mileage and power to spare. You won't regret it.

Yep, What DFR said. I've had mine for a year. i only have 4k on it & I absolutely love it. Traded up from a Class C/V10. 11 mpg towing my Jeep Cherokee, where the "C" got 6.5-7.5 mpg.

We have had ours since June 07 and put on 20k and love it.
We have been in the mountains many times on our two trips between Alberta and Yuma and the power is good even pulling an open car hauler loaded with our 04 Maxima car. We also love the space 3 slides gives us.

I've had my Fred for a year now. I love it. Just got back from a trip to Washington, DC from Mass and we got 11.6 MPG! WOW!!!! We weren't towing but ran the genny at least half the time there and back.

Great feedback. Would love to get one. Seems the compromise between the gasser (currently have) and the DP (which no longer have). Like the relative simplicity of the gasser systems as well as interior appointments more fit our lifestyle, but I do miss the diesel engine and allison transmission every time I drive. Well, that's what wish lists are for.

You are familiar with DPs already so no need to sell you on them. A FRED is attractive but I see no advantages to it compared to a comparable DP. Find the small DPs and compare. My 36' DP with a 5.9 Cummins is equivalent to a FRED but I am glad the engine is in the rear.

I would agree with J Walker. I've not had a fred but had a gas and now have a DP. If I could not have a DP for some reason my next choice would be a fred, but love having the rear engine.

Why are you glad the engine is in the rear? What do you feel are the disadvantages to the engine in the front?
