I have 2001 TRADEWINDS LTC on a 2000 FTL XC chassis that continually wears the outer rim on the right front tire, It also cups this edge moderately. Have had the alignment checked twice at a shop noted for specializing in diesel chassis MH and large trucks, and replaced the tire once. They claim the alignment, toe, caster & caster are all in specs. They also claim that the caster and camber cannot be adjusted as this is done when NEWAY mfg'd the front suspension assembly. However, I have obtained a copy of NEWAY's maintence manual which indicates that the camber & caster can be adjusted by adding or removing shims at the lower A-frame attachment points to the IFS major assembly. Does anyone know of alighment shop in the San Diego area that will make these adjustnents ?

Have you tried Freightliner? Our coach did this when new and they found the tow in was set too high. I believe that Michelin calls for a tow in of 0. But I would yield to the coach manufacturer’s or Freightliner’s recommendations.

Shocks and wheel bearings can also cause this kind of problem. As for alignment, caster would not produce that symptom, but camber or toe could.

Take a ride up to Grants Pass, OR and visit Henderson Line-up or to Brazos RV in Centralia, WA and they will get it straightened out.
