have a freightliner XC with a defective parking brake switch. This is the switch that activates the waring beeper if you don't set the parking brake with the the trans. in neutral. Thefreightliner P/N is 06-31933-000. It's made by medallion pressurestat. Does any one know of a local source for this switch as local freightliner dealer has none. snoopy2

I got one from the Freightliner Service Center in Gafney, SC last year. They shipped promptly, but the cost was about $80 if I remember correctly.

Call Freightliner, Gaffney at 1 800 385 4357 and ask for parts. They will ship the part to you and their prices are the lowest.

I have the 2010 Allegro Red Tiffin coach, Freightliner chassis vin number 4UZAB2DTXBCAT4493. My parking brake warning light and alarm comes on every now and then. It only goes off when I put the unit in neutral and dump the air. When I restart the unit I get a clunking sound out of the driver side, like metal hitting metal. I get about 15 minutes of rest and then the alarm starts to come on intermintently and slow then it gathers speed.

Our last trip it was on for 6 1/2 hours. I comes on in the cold weather as well as warm. We put on 1000 miles to Washington DC and never had an issue. The next trip was to Chicago and the return trip the alarm came on.

Hitting the brakes while on the road does not affect the alarm.

When we arrived home the driver side slides would not operate, not until I dumped the air again did the slides start to work. Manual tells me the parking brake and the slides have an interlock connection.

I am taking the coach to a Freightliner dealer on Wed. April 27th. I have called Tech services but they were of no help with this issue.

I assume there is a sensor that is acting up, at least that is my hope.

Anyone else have this experience?

Thanks.

Those switches are fairly simple and though they can break, it's hard for them to fail otherwise less they get dirty.

you might try this:

Remove the switch, at Radio Shack or any electronics store get some contact cleaner, Spray the contacts down (you may need to press the plunger on the pin-switch to do this) and then operate the switch several dozen times, Re-spray every dozen or so, let it dry (hold it open when it is drying) and then see if it works.

You can also try that without the contact cleaner... In fact I would first.

Worst case, you are out a can of contact cleaner.. Best case you just saved 72 dollars.
