Just going from my experience. 3 years ago temp gauge would climb even on some minor grades. My gauge has the word NORMAL on it. The normal running temp is just below the N. I was running up to the L and beyond on many of the grades out west. It always took a lot of careful driving not to overheat.
Now for the last 2 years only the biggest grades will make the needle go slightly past the N, near the O.
Almost 17 years on the radiator and CNC. Someday I may have to have it pulled and or replaced.
3 years later I stand by my outlandish statement. Physically I could never pull the radiator. In my condition it took me 2 days to do what I did.
Cost, $30 Xtreme simple green, $130 portable steam cleaner.

There are picture's on here of what the insides look like after repeated cleanings(Post #31)...........then pulled them apart due to problems still.
It is really not a hard/bad job to drain the coolant, and remove them, especially on a side radiator. Good time to flush and install new coolant also.
So much of this information has been previously posted in other threads. Picture #31 is minor compared to my post previous post on this subject. I have included a picture of those findings after I separated the radiator from the CAC. Picture is from another thread. The use of a flex camera will not show the depth of the trouble. I know as I had used this to find a leak and it is very difficult to determine exactly what you are looking at.

Just curious if you have ever had a radiator removed and installed on a side radiator coach. You probably will not just have it pulled to clean it and replace it for what is cost if you are not having trouble with it.

Great picture's I never saw your thread/post........but it is a wonderful photo to show what is going on in between the two, and the grime and junk that is stuck in there if not pulled apart. ,Mine was not that bad, but bad enough that it needed to be separated to clean properly. Thanks for the post!
I am going to save your photo and use them for future example's............

Radiator and CAC cleaning

Here is a B/W photo of mine, I had it pulled and cleaned last month. One would think I drove through a garbage dump every day! How this thing managed to produce any cooling at all is beyond me...

Wow, I can see why you had your pulled & clean. Just had my side radiator pulled & replaced last month, the cost for that was $2950. (labor only). & I checked 7 other shops on price for labor too.
My old radiator was nice and clean when they pulled it out.
My new charge air and radiator are nice and clean now too.

Yep, an expensive repair. Mine ran me $2350. I was already due for a coolant and t-stat change so that made me feel better, LOL! I told them to scrutinize everything that was accessible while the cooling system was apart and gave them a green light replace anything that looked worn. At a bare minimum, I told them to replace the belts and hoses, even though they were only few years old. They said everything else looked good, but replaced the belt tensioner to be on the safe side. They also took the radiator to a radiator shop and had it dipped.
