I'm guessing that the OP is wondering about the 2017 Newmar in his profile. I don't have the answer, but I can say with certainty that Freightliner sometimes includes components and functionality in the delivered chassis that are unused by the coach builder. The answer to this question most likely has to come from Newmar.

Most cars have a feature that will let you know how much fuel is left and how far this fuel with get you. I have been toggleing through the Freightliner options at the dash info, but I have not seen anything like this.

I will be leaving the dealer in the next few days and I am wondering how far my fuel will take me.

Checking in the RV Chassis manual included with the coach there is no option shown for "distance to empty" on the display. There are options for fuel, fuel economy and fuel used. This information is in the instruments section.

OK - the fuel used option will help.

If they had one I would not trust it.

I have the MPG feature and it is way optimistic. It will report an average MPG of 10 but my measured over many tanks is 8. If the fuel consumption used in the MPG is used in any other calculation it to will be of by a significant margin and should not be trusted.

Get the VMSpc and it can be set up for fuel used or fuel left to use.

Trip planning would eliminate the need for a sophisticated computation.
I do know that when my low fuel light come up I should find fuel soon, like in about 60 or 80 miles. That is based on the assumption of having about 10 gallons left in the tank when that light comes on. Also based on my rate of fuel consumption of about 8.5 miles to the gallon. I also know that I use about 9-10 gallons per hour based on 65-70 mph travel speed.
Since I have a 90 gallon fuel tank, I have found that my empty fill is about 70 gallons. That tells me that I really have about 20 gallons of fuel left but never really want to get to low. My rule of travel is get fuel about every 600 - 700 miles or every 11- 12 hours of travel. More than anything never stop for the night with less than one third of a tank if you plan using your generator.

I don't have a computer dash but do have a brain.

It does not matter much if you never let the gauge get below half full. After your second fill up you will have a good rough guess number.

I just go by the fuel gauge ... when it starts getting close to 1/2 full ... I start looking for fuel. I'm usually more than ready to stop and stretch for a while by then anyway (and so are the dogs and the wife)

I mainly wanted to check to see if I could get back home without stopping for fuel. I had two issues I was dealing with that I needed to get home ASAP without an additional stop. I ended up having a little over a 1/4 of tank when I got home.

A simple and inexpensive solution is the Scan Gauge D. PPL RV has it for 124.99.
