My Freightliner XCS differential hold 5-7 quarts of 80W90 oil. Fill to the top plug.

Hi jim..i believe you have the Alliance Brand Product (ABP) differential and like you say 5-7 quarts to top of plug
showgun 1940, will have to check with winni or cummins to find out if he has the APB or the Meritor RS-17-145 fifferential like i have in my Tiffin Allegro Red DP

I believe that Jim and I have the same chassis. Mine is a Meritor axle because all of the chassis components on my chassis come from Meritor. I've never specifically measured my quantity because I've done exactly as Jim recommended - filled it to the bottom of the upper plug. It is not a fun process filling it. I would guess that Jim's estimate is accurate.

I'm going to be doing that change shortly. I'm not looking forward to it. I would be a much wiser man to change that fluid when it is 100 degrees out, not 45.

open letter to irv2 members.. when yoiu need to know what drive line components you have on your mh..call or go to your nearest cummins, freightliner, allison service/parts dept. and give the person the last 6 digits of your vin# and his computor will bring up all the drive line info.. (i'm not sure if sparton, cat, workhorse ford use the same method)
chasfm11..i too have the same problem...i'm down here in sw florida and the temps of late have gone down in the mid 40's at nite so i''l be changing the gear lube next week after i take her out on a trek, and then drive to my local "quick lube" and have them do the drain/fill and lube the chassis at the same time ...cost $12.00 (i'm supplying the gear lube)

My 2004 Meridian on the Freightliner XC chassis also takes 6-7 quarts when changing. Always thought I had the Meritor differential but guess not.
