I would like to rebuild my air dryer myself. I have watched a FL shop take one apart before. Does the Midland kits supply directions?? It looks like I need a Major repair kit and a Desiccant kit for my 36 month maintance service.

Has anyone who have serviced their air dryer have any advise? Thanks

Do a search on this site, there are multiple comments with directions and pictures on air dryer maintenance and servicing.

If you're just talking about the 36.000 mi maintenance, replacing the necessary parts on a Freightliner chassis with a Halidex Purest drier is not a difficult job. It can be done while the unit is still in the chassis, but it's much easier if the drier is removed first. Since it's location tends to collect dirt, grease and oil, a good cleaning before breaking the seals is much easier out of the chassis. Just a few hoses and mount bolts and it's out. Just make sure ALL the air is dumped before removing anything.

The Midland air drier has a kit which includes the filters and replacement parts. There are instructions provided. You don't have to replace more than the filters if everything is working properly, but you still buy the kit to get the filters. The kit is about $140.

Good explanation here:
new_fcoc_web

Not difficult but as noted above it's in an area that collects a lot of dirt & grease. I have replaced my filters a few times, all without completely removing the unit but need to use care. A little grit inside could really mess up the dryer valves.
Hope this helps.
