I have a 2007 Itasca Meridian. Last year I had a problem with my air pressure gauge reading 0. I took it to Freighliner and they replaced the MMDC (multiple module data computer). When they replaced this unit my odometer read O miles. Is there a way to restore the correct mileage on my odometer?

Freightliner should have done that when they replaced the MMDC. They are supposed to record the mileage before making the switch, then program it into the new unit. The law requires that for cars, but maybe that doesn't apply to a truck/RV chassis.

Call Factory Service in Gafney and ask - they should be able to do it for you. I don't think you can do it yourself.

I had my MMDC replaced for the very same reason (air pressure problems) and questioned if my odometer could be reset to the appropriate mileage instead of zero. The Freightliner dealer told me that it could not be reset. The correct mileage however is still registered in the engine ECM and can be displayed with either VMSPC or in maintenance mode on the Info Center LCD display.
It is however still a pain the butt not having it display correctly on the odometer.

Agree with Gary.. the law allows a one time odometer change for odometer/MMDC replacements... I disagree with the tech saying there is no way to do it.

Last year a Cummins shop put in a update for the ECM and that lost all of the ECM information. Putting miles, gal used etc all back to 0

It didn't effect my odometer miles. They stayed the same.
I had to put a offset in the VMSpc to get total miles the same as the dash.

When my new 2005 Vectra arrived at the dealer, but before I picked it up, they needed to have the MMDC replaced under warranty by the local Freightliner folks because of a problem. Freightliner was able to set the odometer properly in the new MMDC, but I don't know what was involved in doing so.

While we are on this topic ..... how long is the warranty on the MMDC and if you had to pay out of pocket, what was the cost?

I had it replaced at Empire Truck Sales, a Freighliner Shop in Meridian Mississippi. The R V was less than three years old and still under warranty at that timE so all I had to pay was for the freight charges to have ir sent to Meridian. The invoice I received did not have a cost for the part listed.

That really chaps me. These dealers want to charge us freight for items they don't stock. FL-Gafney has reimbursed me for freight charges when the dealer has billed for freight under warranty and also I was told if Gafney ships a part to the dealer, Gafney picks up the freight. So it sounds to me its just an easy way for a dealer to pick up a few bucks.

Have any of you ever taken a car/truck in for warranty work and had to pay for freight? Of course not, but just because we own these big rigs the dealer thinks he can bully us into paying.

Sorry, off my high horse and back to regularly scheduled programming.

The thought just occurred to me. If they had to replace an engine under warranty the freight could possibly be several thousand dollars. Back to the cartoons.

I just had my rig re-flashed and it appears that the odometer went 45 miles farther than the computer did. They didn't know what caused this and I'm gonna check with Freightliner.

I want to know more about the Air gauge malfunction. We just returned from a trip and the dash dummy lights started acting up, reporting Trans Temp, Eng Prot, Wait to Start... This was just after a refuel. All the warnings seemed false and counter to the gauges. I was able to shutdown and restart without the warnings. Later, the Front Air Gauge started to malfunction, going from a proper reading, to zero, to 130 and back. The dummy low air light would also buzz. It was asking like a random short would occur then run normal for a while and short again. Is this the behavior observed requiring the computer to be replaced? Cost? This is a 1999 motorhome, so I assume it is a 1998 XC chassis.
