Shocks for 2005 XC chassis

hi all, i have a 2005 36 foot itasca meridian on an XC chassis.

while inspecting the rear axle, i found both lower shock brackets had broken off.
apparently stress cracked, since the both appeared to have broken the same way.
anyway, i have removed the rear wheels and ground the leftover pieces and welds off the torque tube arms where they were originally mounted. ive found some heavier pre formed brackets approximately the same size to weld back in place. the old brackets were 1/4 u shaped brackets, the new are 3/8 brackets.

now i want to get some good shocks to replace the monroe shocks that are there. these shocks have 96,000 miles on them.

does anyone have a recommendation, and the part numbers for new shocks.
im not worried about cost that much, since im only going to do this once, i hope. i just want some good ones.
thanks, paul maddox

Paul,
If the shocks are the original ones, they are probably made by Sachs. I replaced my original equipment Sachs with Bilstein shocks at about 77,000 miles on our 2004 Journey 36G. The rear shock part number was 24-186483 and the front was 33-187525 from Don's sport vehicle sales. They had the best price at that time. The ride has been good since the replacement.
Sorry to hear about the rear mounts, sounds like you have the plan to fix them.
Good Luck,
Indiana Journey

I would consider Koni's. They're more expensive, but to me they ride better.
