I always put jacks down to take the weight off the suspension (springs/air bags) and tires.
Coat chrome. Grease best, lasts longest. Tires on wood especially on the dirt ground that stays wet.

For 13 years we stored our Dutch Star with the front tires completly off the ground on just the front jacks, never put the rear ones down for storage. This was on an outside gravel pad in the Pacific Northwet. I never cleaned nor lubed the ram shafts either. In fact it still had the OEM return springs on the rams. When we traded the rig in in 2015 everything was still working fine.

I use jack stands or you can use wood blocks when the air dumps out of the bags the frame is resting on the stands it takes the pressure off the tires and it takes the pressure off the jacks all winter. Best of both worlds.
