Stablizer bar adjustment

Question: Should the cushion donuts that are on the lower ends of the vertical bars that connet to the front axle stablizer bar be loose or tight? Our Discovery has 89K miles and there is a gap between the donuts on each of the connerctor bars between the frame and the stablizer bar.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Jim, I don't know the answer. But at the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney they will know. Try them at 864-206-8613. Real friendly folks.

If you are talking about the anti-sway bar, I assume you are talking about the end links which are rods that go from the bar to the frame mounts. The end link bushings "donuts" should be snug but not tight and there should not be any air gap. When the rubber dries out it could crack and shrink and they should be replaced. The only thing to remember is that the front wheels should be on a level surface when tightening the retainer nut and do not tighten more then is necessary to expand the bushing to the same size as the concave washers on either side. The bushings are cheap and can be bought at any decent auto parts store.

Fellows,
thanks for the advice. I tightened up the "doughnuts" and all is ok now.
Regards,
