It's been 5 years since I purchased my coach (2005). The factory starting batteries have served me well but it must be close to their useful life. I'm a firm believer in preventative maintenance and would much rather replace these batteries at my convience instead of some Sunday afternoon in timbucktoo when the coach won't start. I believe the factory uses Aliant or something like that. They are two sealed batteries. Does anyone know exactly what they are; what group or size; and where I might find them? Also about how much do they cost? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. Brad.

I drove over to my local Interstate distributor and he replaced both mine for about $150. Operative word is distributor.

Your local Freightliner service and sales should have the Alliance batteries that you need. They are also very reasonable on most of their prices. Good Luck.

Alliance is Freightliner's factory brand. Alliance coolant, Alliance Batteries. Replace with a comparable brand and the same or better CCA.
Have you had someone do a capacity check on the current batteries? They might be better (or worse) than you think. With a check you could make a knowledge based decision rather than depending on a guess.

Just replaced mine today, Battries were made in 2003. I went to local Napa Store and put in commercial truck 925 CCA, and on it spins over real good now. They coast me $250 for the pair.

There are many Interstate users with batteries in the 7-8 year range, and Trojan users who hit 10 or more.. I saw a Die-Hard (Sears) hit 9 years last summer.
Batteries are haz-mat. Be sure to recycle them but... Frankly I would wait till they need replacement before I did that... Better for the enviorment.

To answer your initial question, they are probably Group 31 maintenance free batteries rated at 925 CCA or better. Also, they are most likely "top stud" batteries - stainless nut and washer holding the battery cable to the battery - rather than the lead post style. Any commercial battery dealer should be able to help you, also truck dealer, Sam's Club or Costco. Batteries + has a house brand made by East Penn in Reading, PA. The other guys gave you a range of costs.

I just had to replace all my house batteries on my new to me '01 LTC as they were low on water and looked as if they had been for awhile. I went to my local Les Schwab store and got four 6V house batteries and two grp 31 coach for around $600 and tax.I also had to replace one 12" hot cable on the house batteries as the ends were all gone and the cable was in pretty bad shape too..$48.95 for a new one with soldered zinc rings..
Lesson learned, even tho I had just gotten it and the former owner hadn't checked them either,CHECK YOUR CABLES and keep them cleaned.

I use the spray cleaner and then the spray coat from NAPA at least once a year and I still had a cable nut disintegrate on me,
