Steering column vibration

The steering column on my coach vibrates while driving straight down the highway. I believe it's the spring that has a plastic covering on it. I've tried moving the hard plastic spring covering up an down, did not help. At one point, I put a small piece of foam pipe insulation into the base and it stopped for a short period of time. If I lightly push on the steering wheel adjuster pedal the vibration stops. I hope someone else has been able to fix this...any help would be appreciated. The coach is a 2014 Winnebago Tour 42 QD Tag on a Freightliner XC Chassis.

Are you after a vibration , or just a buzz.

If you can feel any vibration in the steering wheel ; that would cause a buzz in the dash area , then checking the front tire balance is the first step.

I suppose this is a constant noise from the steering wheel adjuster spring. The coach rides pretty smooth. Probably more of a rattling noise if that helps. Ride is smooth and this noise is isolated toward the bottom of the steering column. I should probably remove the plastic shroud covering the steering column and see what it looks like. Thanks.

steering wheel shaking

Hi guys , I have a small shake in my steering wheel when i his a small bump or something. I have had the front end totally checked out, it is all good, new tires, rims, balance and a steering damper, roadmaster self centering. Drives great on smooth road, but even the smallest bump will cause it to shake. I figured if there is some way i could tighten it up, even a little it would/might help 2013 bounder fred, very low mileage 17,000 miles so there is very little wear But it just seems loose. Thanks Charlie king kingcharles64@att.net

I'm pretty sure it's the spring. If i put slight pressure on the foot pedal that adjusts the steering wheel, the vibration goes away. I did put some pipe foam wrap near the spring, it helped a little but did not eliminate the noise. I'll keep looking for a solution. Thanks.

I am like you, I hate a rattle, squeak, banging, whatever the noise is, and my wife Jira, is like a duck on a June bug! She finds them and does what it takes to stop the rattle! But enough about me!
I think you have found the rattle, it is the spring, or the linkage that the spring tightens up! So, with the covers off the steering column, bang on the column with your hand and see what is rattling? It may not rattle with the covers off? Look the covers over very closely, on the inside for rub marks! If that is what is rubbing, you could take some sound deadening material and put around the column between the cover and the part that is rattling.
Hope this helps! Rail!

Thanks this is helpful. I have noticed that on some roads the plastic shroud around the steering column does vibrate. I'll remove it sometime and check it out. Unfortunately I need to fix the Aqua-Hot Stir Pump first. Thanks again for your response and everyone's response. Very helpful.
