I have lost the surge tank cap. Does anyone have a part number that can be cross referenced by NAPA or other auto parts stores? The number given by Freightliner (05-17223-004) does not cross reference and the local Freightliner tells me the closest cap is about 7 days away.

Here's what ours looks like, it's a Motorcraft cap RS 62, 13 lb. Hope this helps.

As a follow up Napa cross referenced the above motorcraft number and came up with NAPA Balkamp 703-1445 (and it is 13 pounds). They charged $4.99 for the cap and it appears to fit correctly.

That's great, I'm glad you could find one that fits. I was thinking I should change ours because I really don't know how old it is.

We last drove our coach on Sunday, Oct 3 and when I removed the cap 4 days later we still had pressure. Guess I'll let it go a while longer.

Again thank you - Without the photo you sent I'd still be looking for the right cap.

Glad I could help. I've learned lots from this forum and it feels good to be able to pass it along to someone else.

Yes this is a great web site - I have learned and gathered a lot of useful information - much more than from the other sites I have visited.

After reading this post I inspected my cap and discovered that the rubber seal was beginning to crack. Visited the local Freightliner Dealer and bought the Motorcraft RS-62, 13lb cap. A mere $3.83 including tax
According to the Freightliner Invoice, the part # is FTL 05-17223-004.
