While at the Authorized Freightliner Service, I mentioned that my steering wheel was off, meaning not straight. They said that if they adjusted it, it might be off the opposite way and that I should leave it. I asked about a front end alignment and they said they don't do alignments! I asked about a suspected chassis air leak and they said they found none. The local Winnebago/Itasca dealer found the air leak and fixed it. I didn't have time to wait, but they will fix my steering wheel whenever I have time to stop in again. It is still under the Freightliner Warranty until November, but freightliner doesn't seem qualified. Joe

Not Freightliner in general, trust me, just your local Freightliner service shop. Some FL shops aren't very RV friendly. Call FL Service at 800-FTL-HELP, they should fix you up.

Azloafer, Crabby Mike is right on about some Freightliner shops just do not want any part of working on RV's. I was suprised by Gaffney when I called Pat to make a M3 appointment this fall for service at 4 years they would do everything I requested except change the thermostats in the C-7. I have a local Freightliner shop that would do all the work I requested but I have dealt with them over the past 3 years and the techs will tell you up front they hate to work on RV's because they are so hard to service while not getting grease all over your coach.

Some local Freightliner shops, including the one in Ft. Worth, TX are not at all bashful about telling you what a big favor they are doing for you to even consider working on your MH, let alone repairing it. This one is an Oasis dealer that is supposed to be friendly to RVers. Their attitude is that they have more than enough truck business and they only do MHs because the big Frieghtliner makes them. They don't have to like and they don't have to be very cooperative while they are doing it.
In warranty, you have no choice. One of the reasons that we bought used was so that we would have a choice. My choice has been never to return to that Freightliner dealer. I have no plan to go somewhere where I have to beg and plead to get service. And they didn't fix the problem that I took to them. I ended up fixing it myself.

Hey Joe... I've seen the same response. That's why I'm glad I found a good Oasis shop in Tolleson, Az. This isn't where you had your bad experience is it?

That continues to interest me. The folks at Gaffney refused to replace my CAT T-stats saying they did not have the T-stats. I finally changed them myself. I wonder if they will still refuse if you have the T-stats with you??

When we bought our Tradewinds/Freightliner and were driving it back to Vegas, we had an electrical problem (turned out to be a wire came off the alternator). We pulled off at Wildwood, Fl where there was a Freightliner service station. I went in and was told to take my problem accross the street to an independant truck repair. The Freightliner service people would'nt even attempt to look. We ended up at an RV dealer and were treated like old customers. Had us back on the road in 15 minutes without charging us. On the other hand we have been treated well at Freightliner of Las Vegas. They are an Oasis dealer.

Unfortunately each FL dealership is an independent franchise. With the exception of Gaffney. While at Camp FL a lot of time was spent sharing dissatisfied experiences with our local FL dealers. Gaffney does attempt to "police" extremely poor service centers but when it come right down to it there isn't much they can do except communicate customer dissatisfaction. That is one reason why FL has not opened a corporate owned service center 'out west'. They don't want to compete with a local franchise.

The real suprise to me is that they were more than willing to Run The Top, flush/change coolant and a complete M-3 but would not change the C-7's T stats with the coolant emptied some time during the process. Pat said "we do not go that deep into the engine". Valve adjustment is certainly deeper in the engine than T stats hope that answers your question Gary.

I've had very good experiences with the Oasis dealer in Springfield, MO.

Are you sure Gaffney flushed your cooling system? Pat told me on 8/30/10 that Gaffney does a drain and fill, no flush. Why waste my money if the system is not flushed after 4.8 years and 53K miles.

NoMoreAZ, Gaffney did not get the job because of the T-Stats I went to the local Freightliner shop 8 miles from my house and they did everything I requested. I spent time with tech who did all the work this time and he answered any question I had about the work performed just like past visits. The service manager went over all the items on the bill before paying and you can go crawl through the entire coach and check stuff out before paying.
The tech said at 30k every valve was loose and required adjustment where before CAT use to require the valve check after 8k. I explained that CAT now says between 30 & 40 K and then around 100k which will never happen with me.
