Its about time for a new set of tire's.I've been approached about filling the tires up with nitrogen instead of air. Has anyone had this done? If so what's your thoughts on this. The price is about $13.00 per tire.

Air is 78% nitrogen to began with, 100 % nitrogen should be a little dryer inside the tire. If your gonna to be doing 125-200 mph with your motorhome, such as a race car does, could be a benefit. In a motorhome, your just paying $13.00 more per tire. (not to mention, if you ever need to top off)

Use the nitrogen that's already in the tire (in the air) and save yourself that $13 per tire.

Many people pushing nitrogen say it's best because NASCAR uses it. They use it because there is no moisture in the pure nitrogen. The moisture will upset the balance of a race car tire. They make adjustments to their setups by changing pressure by little as 1/4 lb. Regular air and the humidity of the day would affect that. We don't need it although there are some who will swear by it.

Costco uses nitrogen when they install new tires. When I had the pressures checked later at an oil & lube place, they told me they don't add regular air to nitrogen filled tires. I don't know why, but that could be a problem if you ever have a low tire.

Since nitrogen doesn't expand at the same rate as air when heated what tire pressures do you use? If you use the specified cold inflation pressure then the tires will the tires now be under inflated on the road.
