Trans cooler leak
My trans cooler seems to leak coolant when the engine has cooled down. Frieghtline XC. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had a trans cooler leak on my 2007 Newmar on a Spartan chassis. They told me it would just get worse and needed to be replaced. I then took it to another place for a second opinion. They also said it needed to be replaced. It was not cheap!

Was at the factory service center end of Oct. changed out my trans cooler, they found it leaking, under warranty .
They also stopped a coolant leak, said it was loose clamps .

Well Sir,
I'm the kind of guy that would drain the cooling system and, disconnect that cooler and see if I could tell where it's leaking. If at all possible, I'd weld/braze/TIG (whatever process is needed) that thing up. But, that's just me. If it's some form of an internal leak, well, that's BAD. You certainly don't want any mixing of the fluids. I have no idea what that component would cost but, according to the other responders here, IT'S NOT CHEAP. So, maybe with a bit of work, and, if you don't have the tools and equipment to repair it, provided it can be repaired, then maybe take it to a friend or see what a local weld shop might want to do the repair. Keep us informed of the outcome is.

I've found the same on mine. Try tightening the hose clamps.

When mine was new, first 6 mo., I had a leak on drivers side. Took the clamp off, loosened the hose and slipped it out about 1" and put clamp back on, all was good.
The nipple for the hose was welded to a flange out the end of the cooler and they had slipped the hose up on top of the welding bead an placed the clamp over the welding bead. Apparently the hose wouldn't seal over the roughness of the welding bead.

This first thing i would do is check to see if that clamp in the picture is tight. I have had a few drips that were and easy fix.

Freightliner replaced the hose and hose clamp under warranty. If it hadn't been under warranty I would have taken this advice under action. Thanks
