1999 HR Endeavor. When starting, engine starts, volt meter does not move, battery idiot light goes on, volt meter goes up to appox. 12-15, and then the idiot light goes out. All this takes about 15 seconds and then while driving, the volt meter is moving between 10 and 16 volts, even at steady speeds. I am kind of thinking it is the voltage regulator, but maybe somebody could advise. Thanks, Jerry

Have you check for a loose wire or for corrosion at the terminals?

I had the same symptoms on my 99 WBGO Ultimate Freedom about a year ago, it turned out, to in fact be the voltage regulator. The regulator is built into the alternator. If ou can get at the top of the alternator, it's pritty easy to replace. About $50 for the regulator at an alternator rebuild shop. You probably have the same alternator model that I have. I don't recall what my exact model number is, but the bulletin that I got with the new regulator was for a "LEECE-NEVILLE" (MODELS 2500 -2800 - 4800 OR 4900 SERIES), ALL TAKING THE SAME REGULATOR. If you end up replacing the voltage regulator, you should replace the brushes at the same time $10 or less. I used a heavy paper clip straightened out to hold the brush springs up where directed by the installation instructions to use a 1/16" drill bit. The bit is too short to reach. About a 1 1/2 hour job the first time, only about 1/2 hour after the one time learning curve. GOOD LUCK JERRY

OK, thanks for the replies. I'll check the connections, or at least the ones I can reach ( rear radiator ). Jerry, thanks for the info as to what happened to you, and the rebuilt job.
