I hope that is normal, mine is not coming on either. I believe there is some sort of temp sensor that causes the light to come on. My old coach was a 2000 and the light did not come on until the weather got pretty chilly.

I have a shake liner and the lights all come on at first as a test to let U know they are not burnt out then they go off and wait to start air and park lights up if air is up it goes out as water in fuel and wait to start also goes out park will stay on till I shift in to a gear and press the air valve to move the bus hope this helps Bushman

The Wait to start is a Thermostat controlled light
You said "It's hot here in Texas" (or something like that)
Try it in Wisconson, in January.. IT will light just fine.

Here during the summer mine only comes on when I turn on the key and all the dash lights go on then off. I think this is normal as the light does work when it is cold.

I believe the "wait to start" light comes on about 38 to 40 degrees outside temperature--I read that in the Cat owners manual somewhere. This wait period is for the preheater to do its job so the diesel will fire up easier.
It is not needed for warm weather ops.

I have never had wait to start not light in any weather. The is not just the period when all dash lights are on, wait to start stays on longer than that. I have a 2000 Freightliner XCS chassis with a 5.0 Cummins.

I never have had a problem in the Summer time. I do wait in the winter for the light to go out.

Mine doesn't come on when the weather outside is warm. If its cold then the wait to start light comes on and the preheaters are working. Watch your voltage guage when you start in cold temps. It will show chg. & Dischg. until the engine is started.
