we cant go over 55MPH
We have a 1999 DSDP 3884, cat 3126B freightliner
Just driving down the freeway and I lose power, no bad lights, the gages are good,
What should I check
Do I take it a cat dealer or freightliner
We are in holly wood FL 33021

Yep, that's the first thing to check with those symptoms.

Yes, fuel filter and perhaps air filter.

I would check to see if exhaust brake is open. May be stuck closed.

In answer where to take it, if it is engine one way or the other it will be looked at
by Cat. Not to many places have the hook up for the 98 - 99 Cat unlike the newer
ones.
When was the last time the fuel filters were changed sounds like the first place to look, also check the exhaust brake at the engine to be sure it is not stuck engaged.
That is a strong possibility also.

If it was the exhaust brake it won't idle or if it does it will be extremely rough. Either fuel filter or ECM. Fuel filter easiest and cheapest

Laj: if the exhaust brake is stuck half open it would idle but would limit the RPM
a bunch.

It would not only be extremely rough at idle, but you could also hear it

What did I win?what is it your cat is doing?
I know on all my cats if the jake were to stick on it would kill the engine almost instantly.
If it was the exhaust brake side it would be rough and I can hear it out the exhaust and by the turbo

How about a leak in the turbo charge air system. If you have a boost guage is it reading normal? I vote for the fuel filters first too.
