Hey Don and Fannie.

You are going to love those AGM batteries. We put two in our old Casita in January of 2005. Since they don't out gas anything we put one under the bed in a trolling motor box. Our daughter just spent 5 days in our little old rig and they went the whole time on those seven year old batteries, and as far as I know they have never been looked at since I installed them.

We sure wanted to make it out to Q this year but it just didn't happen. For sure we'll be there next year though.

Hope everything is going well for you folks.

Yep,,, so far, so good --- though, I am (now) very watchful to avoid over-discharging them. We just made it thru 10 days without dumping -- coulda made it 1 or 2 more days, but wanted to reposition the rig (for optimal solar collector view)... it helped that we turned off the accumulator (for reducing water flow), and we did get a water refill (got 45 gals, which reached the over-fill level --- so much for the "junk" accu-guage monitor --- so it was good to fully test the bladder to reload the fresh water tank).

Our original wet-cells lasted just under 5 years, would not hold a charge enough to run the BigFoot (worked fine when plugged in, so we know the inverter/charger works well enough to feed voltage -- that's a good-to-know item, by itself!). Of course, I contributed to that by not being diligent in monitoring the water level (the battery box being not-so-conveniently located under a storage shelf that seemed to accumulate so much "essential stuff").

Glad to hear from you, Chauncey & Jane -- hope to see you down here next year!

Cheers,
Don
