We bought our 2001 New Horizons fifth wheel in February of 2005 and moved into it in April of 2005. We live in it full-time and have never regretted the choice. We have had a few repair issues through the years but we are convinced they are about average (actually less than average) for full-timers living in a fifth wheel. Buying used saved us a lot of money!

What I have noticed on all NH 5th wheels is their poor roof. Now they state fiberglass which I guess it is although very very thin. The main problem is the roof is FLAT not crowned. So, if level, water stands in the front and back because of the way the roof is attached meaning you are going to have problems at the seams and the corner attachments where the front and rear caps connect to the side walls and the roof. Be forewarned this will be a problem that requires frequent inspection and re-caulking. Not what I would expect from a "Top Line RV Manufacturer".

We bought a NH because it had a fiberglass roof. No leaks in 3 years. The fact that a little water stands in the roof saves on A/C costs. In our case what with the air conditioners, solar panels, antennas, and vents there isn't a whole lot of roof left to face the full horrors of weather and sun.

We have lived in our 2001 New Horizons since April, 2005, and never had a roof leak.

Even better..........we get a nice discount on our insurance BECAUSE we have a fiberglass roof.

Health concerns are forcing me to sell my 2007 NEW HORIZONS 'MotoMover' even though it has less than 7000 towed miles on it. When the weather permits, I am going to have it delivered to the factory in Junction City, KS and let New Horizons handle the selling of it for me. They will be able to give it the exposure and professional treatment it deserves. The unit has been an absolute joy to own!
My $.02 on the matter only.

I too have owned my 2005 NH 5th since 2009 and have had no problems with leaks, roof or otherwise, with my rig.
I inspect the calking every year and have never had a problem.

Hutch, sorry to hear about the health problems. It has to be a tough pill to need to "hang up the keys." That moto-mover will be a read treasure for the right buyer. I agree that Phil and his team will do their best to sell it for you. Best wishes.

NICELY said, Al.

(And, I would add, anyone that tells you buying from a custom factory allows you to avoid the standard/industry depreciation is full of baloney! We got "sucked" in by that argument, found out it is not true --- maybe it worked 5 yrs ago, but not anymore. Regardless the origin, if you cannot save 30-40% off the original MSRP, you'll lose that amount the day after you drive away with a new rig.) YMMV, this is just my latest MHO.

Thanks so much, and bless you for your kind words folks. Yes...it is a bitter pill indeed to have to walk away from "MO" (as she is affectionately called).
Take Care and enjoy the journey.....
Hutch
