New Horizons Owner Group Rally 2010 -- the latest

May 3-8, 2010 (5 nights)
Mountain Home RV Park
Mountain Home, Idaho (southeast of Boise)

Rally 2010 begins with check-in at Mountain Home RV Park on Monday afternoon, May 3. Sessions will be held on Tuesday through Friday. Along with the scheduled sessions, there will be social time and opportunities to chat and share with others about New Horizons trailers or trailer living. Check-out is on Saturday.

As always, the ever-popular “Open Houses” will be part of the Rally. New Horizons owners will open their homes for tours to share unique customizations of a New Horizon trailer.

If you haven’t read the Dec. 1, 2008 posting titled “Rally 2008 Report”, you will enjoy reading it to see the Rally 2008 Top Ten List and a wonderful photo of all the smiling participants. There were 21 rigs and 45 folks, including three wannabe couples. The evaluations were highly positive and Rick and Joni Beal did a fantastic job of leading us. Be part of the next rally. Don’t miss the fun, great social times, and information sharing!

Our rally rate for the RV spots will be $27 a night (tax included) or if you choose to register for a full week, you can get the weekly rate of $178.20 (which is $25.46 per night – tax included.) We have 25 spots reserved.

The rally rate for the rally events and meals is in the process of being set. We are checking out resources for a banquet and another catered meal. Folks from the last rally really liked having more dinners provided so we are working on that.

We are open to ideas for workshops and eager for new thoughts as well as the subjects that are always popular.

Coming early or extending your stay at the RV park allows for additional exploring at some nearby attractions which include:
... Tour of Mountain Home Air Force Base
... World Center for Birds of Prey (Boise)
... Bruneau Dunes State Park

Rick and Joni have also reported that there are some great Oregon Trail bike trails close by.

Registration materials will be available at least 3 months before the rally and will be on this website. The rally will include lots of social time and sharing of ideas that relate particularly to our New Horizons rigs. It is a great way to meet new friends with whom we share a love of traveling and we learn a lot from each other.

If you are a new owner, this is a great way to get help with questions you have about your rig. Wannabes are very welcome! There are local hotels available if you do not currently own an RV.

Send any questions to Jim and Jan at
jjleigh<<at>>comcast.net
or call us at 253-219-0613

Your committee includes:
Jim and Jan Leigh, Rally Masters
Rick and Joni Beal
Roger and Sue Bell
Bob and Judy Emerson
Don and Fannie France
Carey McGleish
Lloyd Treichel
Mike and Sharon Williams

Hello, Jim and Jan. We're pleased to hear about the 2010 rally in Idaho. We purchased our new-to-us 2005 F34RLTSS in March. The trailer has been in storage pending my retirement (three weeks), and our new pickup truck should be delivered in mid-November. So, we'll have lots of time to install a gooseneck hitch and adapter, and to provision the trailer, before heading out in the spring. Our first trip was going to take us from home in Vancouver, Canada to the New Horizons factory for some minor repair, additions, and advice (then on to Kingston, Ontario, Canada for my son's university graduation). Unbelievably, we would have passed through Mountain Home en route to Kansas in any case, and we'll only have to push back our dates by about a week in order to attend the rally. The veteran NH owners will be a great resource for us on this shakedown cruise! We'll watch the NHOG forums for more updates, but please feel free to add us to any rally-related e-mail distribution list. If you're planning any organized day-trips during the rally, we hope you'll consider the air force base tour that you mentioned in your recent post. Thanks, Al and Louise Munro.

Glad to have you aboard

Al and Louise,

Glad to have you aboard the New Horizon rally. I feel certain that you will learn a lot from those who have a lot of experience. It sounds like you have done some very good planning for the first big trip in your new trailer. I look forward to meeting you at the rally.

Spending a week or two at Mountain Home RV Park

We plan to spend some time sightseeing in the area and were wandrin if we should make our reservations direct or wait to make them through the group?

When the registration materials are available, the details regarding reservations will be in there.

To answer your question, you will make your reservations directly with the RV park -- not through NHOG.

Via telephone, I made my rally reservations at Mountain Home RV Park today. They advised that their website has been down recently. The employee I spoke with didn't know when the website would be operating, but he thought it would be soon. The RV park website address is provided in the rally joining instructions provided on the NHOG website. I wish to caution everyone that a web search for "Mountain Home RV Park" will find UNRELATED RV parks outside Idaho that share the same name. Make sure you reserve at the correct park!

Sight seeing in the area.

We have signed up for a month at Mountain Home RV and will be arriving on April 25th. We need to have some things done to our rig in anticipation of going on to Alaska this summer and thought that being near Boise would make lots of services available.

We plan to put four new tires on the truck and have it all serviced up. Plus I want to armor up the front of the trailer in anticipation of some gravel travel.

On our last trip we wanted to visit Circle, but were too beat up by gravel to make the trip.

Anyone else headed to Alaska, we will be there from the middle of June until the Fireweed is gone.

All the best,
