Roof caulk adhesion problem

Hello to all NH owners:

We have a small hole in the sealer strip where the roof meets the nose cap, probably got snagged by a low tree limb. Is causing a leak into the coach. In trying to seal over the hole, I am having a problem getting even decent adhesion to the existing substrate used by NH. I have tried both Dicor lap sealant as well as the Eternabond tape. I also tried the Acrylic-R SM-5504 lap sealant product that New Horizons recommended. NOTHING adheres. Tried cleaning the base layer with both rubbing alcohol as well as mineral spirits, and it made it look pretty but still not able to get a good bond. Any suggestions?

I would clean the area with acetone and schotchbright.
