Tow Vehicles

Feedback please.

I see lots of communication about HDT vs MDT haulers.
Are these units truly too heavy for a dually 3500? 2012 RAM 3500 is my current TV.

I moved to this dually because my current 5er was more than the 2500 should tow. Getting to a larger TV might be a cause to reconsider this kind of quality unit.

If this is true then I will be looking at a DRV Mobile Suites or a Luxe from RV Factory. Gotta be realistic ;(

I would think it really depends on the length and series (Majestic or Summit); which in the end really means weight.
I have an '18 35' hybrid (Majestic trim on a Summit frame) weighing around 19k loaded.
I pull it with a standard GMC dually with no problem. Of course, when customizing my unit, weight was a priority for me. I didn't want to get a truck larger than a standard dually.

It really depends on what size you're considering.

Hope this helps,
Ron F.

Id go there or call them and ask Cole what is the longest length in either Majestic or Summit for your current tow vehicle. You may find you can only comfortably tow a 30 Summit. But you may find you can do a 35 Majestic. I full time in a 35 Majestic. I have quartz counters, residential fridge, fireplace, vinyl floors, non-fancy shower, 4 solar panels w all the accompanying weight of charge controller/inverter and 6 gel batteries along w a basement of stuff. I haul w a 5500 but I think I have a lot of weight to spare. I think I could get away w a 3500 if needed. For me a slightly used 5500 w Utility Bodywerks bed came along at the exact right time so I snatched it up. Ask them about it.

Can you clarify the statement about the Frame please? I was under the impression that the frames on the Summit vs Majestic were the same?

You were very fortunate that that 5500 came around at the right time. Heck we just tried to order a 2018 5500 and were informed that the ordering window is closed and that the ordering for a 2019 won't begin until around Feb. of 2019 which won't work with a expected due date on our 5th wheel being April. I did find a 2015 F550 with a Utility Body Werks bed on it and Kelderman air suspension but it only has 4:30 gears, that concerns me. We might be needing to switch to Ford and order a new F550 which I guess would be fine as well.
