Hi everyone, we are new to the forum and are considering purchase of a NH trailer not a 5th wheeler. I am aware of the differences in towing but feel a little more confortable towing the trailer. We would like to limit the length of the trailer to under 28 feet or less. We will purchase a GMC 2500 Duramax pickup. We have camped and traveled with a 2001 30 ft Lazy Daze Motorhome for 7 years since retiring. Does any out there own a NH trailer under 30 ft. We are also concerned about the problems associated with slides and would probably eliminate them in the design or limit it to one slide. Any input would be appreciated. Jerry K.

New Horizon units are heavier than the average RV. I would reccommend a 3500 truck. My 30' 5er has my 3500 maxed out.

Hi, Jerry. Welcome to the NH board. We tow a 29 Foot NH travel trailer with a 2006 Chevy 2500HD Duramax/Allison pickup. Our trailer has 1280 pounds on the hitch dry. We upgraded the Chevy standard hitch to a Class Five. The truck handles the load very well. Our trailer weighs 13,000 loaded and we grossed just under 21,000 pounds when we were weighed going into Canada once. We use 1500 pound equalizer arms on our rig.

We full time in our little home. It works for us. We can go any place and do. We have about 30,000 miles on the trailer.
