Do all coaches lose so much air while backing up that the rear mudflap drags at times, especially when hitting the brakes multiple times in tight confines ?? If so , why is this ( I do know about the tag being depressurized to allow turning , but both wheel and bags ?} ? Another question ,what is the normal time frame that your coach not being started & loses air pressure from the air bags to allow it to settle to the ground, especially the rear bags ??

08 Select 500hpCummins ISM Coolant loss

Does anyone have the same problem of NO external leaks and coolant loss after every trip over 1500 miles ? I have to add Final Charge up to 1 1/2 gallons) on a regular basis due to low levels. I was concerned when we bought this in 2010 and was told by Spartan that it "could be normal" , I do not understand why it just "disappears" when there are no leaks. I had all fluids analyzed last change to rest easy that no coolant was in the internal parts of the engine, mainly the oil .

cbu38,
Sounds like you may have an air leak somewhere. Or possibly your desiccant filter may need replacing. If your air pressure drops below 90 psi, the bags will deflate, usually the front will deflate first though. I would start checking the air system and if you have not done it, replace the desiccant filter.

You may also want to replace your radiator cap. They can leak and you won't notice, as it just evaporates.

I've never had to add coolant to mine. I would definitely check that very soon.

My TS did the same thing. The rear ride height valve was split and had to be replaced.

Have never added coolant in the 2 yrs. I've owned. I had a pinhole leak in the main air charge line from compressor head to air dryer, making it hard for the compressor to keep up. Dumping the tag axle should not lower the rear height of the coach at all, mine doesn't but maybe I'm the exception. JB Forgot your last question - mine takes about 10 days parked to settle down on the suspension.

So no one has noticed that while going in reverse that the coach will drop when tag is depressurized or rapid drop after hitting breaks multiple times ??

cbu38,
The desiccant filter is located just behind the rear wheels on the passenger side on the frame rail. Spartan told me that's where they put them on all chassis. And that's where mine is. If it's an original equipment filter, it will be marked "Meritor". On my coach, just like pivotdoc, I had a pinhole leak in my air line from the compressor to the desiccant filter. The air line is about 8ft long and not terribly hard to replace, but you need to route the new line the same as the old one.

My symptoms were pretty much the same, only the front came down when I hit the brakes several times in quick sucession.

As brobox said, you should probably also check the ride height valves.

What is the air pressure coming up to when you first get the suspension up? And how long does it take to get the suspension fully up for traveling?

Drew

Thank you and I will start with replacing the filter working backwards from there to find leaks ! The air pumps up to 150 just fine

cbu38,
The air pressure coming up to 150 sounds like you don't need to worry about the air line from the compressor to the air dryer. Changing the desiccant filter is definitely something you want to do. Then check the ride height valve(s) for the rear suspension. Let us know what you find.

cbu38,
In the rear, you should see an air tank behind the rear wheels almost centered between the frame rails. Look at the air lines going into the tank. The ride height valve for the rear, should be a short distance from the tank typically on the drivers side, probably over the axle. If you follow the air lines, you should find it with no trouble. You will have to be under the coach, so make sure you have your jacks down and possibly have some jack stands so the coach doesn't come down on you.

Hope this helps,
Drew
