2004 TS 40DS04 Alignmnet

Recently purchased this rig and heard first thing I needed to do was install a steering stabilizer. Steering was a little loose and didnt notice a significant pull but was hard to tell. Was able to tell steering wheel was off-center though (wheel turned to the left when going straight). Had a local RV shop install a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. The shop told me they tested it out after installing and I have a slight pull to the right and should get an alignment. Watched the installation video by Safe-T-Plus and they show how it takes several adjustments to straighten the steering. But, I wanted to make sure there wasn't an alignment problem before fixing the pull with the stabilizer. Took the rig to a big rig tire shop (Beasleys) and they told me the alignment was barely off but that an air suspension rig can't get an alignment fix unless it is way off. Said an air suspension rig should never need an alignment unless you hit something major. Is this correct? Seems like everywhere I take this thing, I get a different answer. Wish I could find a place that knew what the hell they were doing and could get this done right the first time. It's not just a waste of money, but more importantly, a waste of time.

Contact Spartan, your chassis manufacturer. Their customer support is superb. They can provide specs, how to's, and advice. They can offer methods to fix the handling issues. We do not have any after market steering devices and it tracks fine. We have about 60,000 on it.

I second on contacting Spartan. They quickly diagnosed mine with a worn bell crank and put on new Koni’s, and she tracks straight with one finger now.
