Hello all,

What a great community on this forum !!!
We just got a TS Envoy and love it. Drove 700 miles and brought it home. The trip was great, a bit cold outside this time of the year, ran the furnace most of the time to keep it warm inside, but all went well.

As we are getting used to the amenities, and the lack of an owner's manual, is raising some questions that maybe you folks can help us answer. All responses are truly appreciated.

1. I need ti find the water heater bypass to winterize the coach. How do you get to it ?
2. Is there a trick to winterize the washing machine ? This model does not have the trap door down below ( right corner) to drain it....
3. The carpet will need changing - how in the world would someone go about doing that for the area on the driver side where the slide goes down to floor level ???
4. There is a button marked "All" on the light panel. Should that one turn everything On and then OFF ? It does not do that - do I have to program that ?
5. The fuel gauge is flaky when the tank is full and it bounces a bit between full and 2/3- after a while it settles - is this a sender issue, connection or dash gauge ?
6. The Weldex camera and monitor are a POS - anybody upgrade or made it better ? How, what did you get ?
7. The inverter charger is a Magnum ME2012. When we got the coach the Inverter portion would not work but at least the green LED came on and it was charging. Now it is dead completely, had to bypass it to get juice to the A/C outlets. The remote panel says "Internal Fault". What do you all think, repair this one, get a new one, change to a different brand, a new model ? What would be more cost effective ?
8. During the trip back I got twice the Check Engine light while driving during the first day. All looked ok , I suspect a sensor issue. The next morning, the light came on when I started the engine but then went off and stayed off for the rest of the day and almost 400 miles....I did put winter blend fresh gas in it and a bottle of the additive and injector cleaner. The light went off before I put fresh gas and additive in it though...
9. The heat floor registers are driving me nuts. I am not getting any heat in the toilet room and very little all the way upfront by the passenger captain seat. It blows very hot under the bedroom , bathroom sink and under the fireplace, decent in the kitchen but almost nothing all the way upfront and in the toilet. Obstruction somewhere ? How do you get to the ducts ?

I am sure we will need more assistance but this it for now.... Thanks for the help, everybody.

Since you live near to Elkhart, all of your questions and solutions can come from the Jayco factory. Jayco purchased the Travel Supreme company and their current models are very similar to the TS models. Many parts are the same. They have been very helpful to us. For specific appliance or charger info, the manufacturers webpage is a great source for manuals, FAQs, and contact info. Most will quickly provide the info you need. I expect the chassis is Spartan. They provide the best support of any company I worked with. They too are not far from you, near Lansing, MI. They have several service bays available to support your needs. We greatly enjoy our unit.

Welcome and I'll answer what I can based on the configuration of my MOHO. However, yours may be different.

1. I need to find the water heater bypass to winterize the coach. How do you get to it ? There is a small trap door in the basement compartment next to the water heater. If you open it you should see two valves, one is the supply to the heater and the other is the bypass valve. Change the position on both valves, drain the heater by removing the anode rod and you should be good to go with pumping the pink stuff.

2. Is there a trick to winterize the washing machine ? This model does not have the trap door down below ( right corner) to drain it....Check this out:
http://www.splendide.com/WD2_AW122_Winterize.pdf

3. The carpet will need changing - how in the world would someone go about doing that for the area on the driver side where the slide goes down to floor level ???
I don't know, but I would imagine either the slide needs to be lifted and temporarily supported or the carpet could be cut and seamed at that point. Rather than replacing the carpet, if I was to do this I would consider replacing it with tile or hardwood.

4. There is a button marked "All" on the light panel. Should that one turn everything On and then OFF ? It does not do that - do I have to program that ?
What light panel are you referring too?

5. The fuel gauge is flaky when the tank is full and it bounces a bit between full and 2/3- after a while it settles - is this a sender issue, connection or dash gauge ? If it only happens with a full tank, I would surmise it has a bad spot on the sensing unit. If it consistently stops after you are off the full tank, it probably isn't worth replacing.

6. The Weldex camera and monitor are a POS - anybody upgrade or made it better ? How, what did you get ? I have a different camera and no issues, but have heard good stuff about these guys:
http://www.rvcams.com/Default.htm

I have a Xantrex inverter/charger so no help again. I would suggest going to the Magnum web page and downloading the manual. Most manufacturers provide some troubleshooting steps and maybe it is something you can reset.

The light went off before I put fresh gas and additive in it though...CAT or Cummins? Typically a check engine light will store a code that can be read by a service center or some home diagnostic tools (ie: Silverleaf VMSpc).

I believe you can access the toilet room duct through the same trap door by the water heater (Question 1). I would start by running a wire/fishtape through the ducts from the floor registers.

Hope this helps some and good luck.

Lou

Magnum inverter. There is a small white plastic plunger/pin on the side which pops out when overloaded. If it's tripped, just push it back in and you should be back in action.

Thanks to all for replies.

The Weldex is just bad, the quality of the image during day is bad and at night unusable. I will try to figure out a Voyager or Sony replacement.

The Inverter has an internal fault. I am taking it today to the service facility and see which board or boards are bad. I can get e new one for $800 with 3 yrs warranty, so it depends what the estimate will be.

What I meant with "the light panel" was the panel that has the switches for lights. There is a button marked "ALL" and was wondering if that button if pressed should turn all the lights inside ON and OFF. It does not for me and I think it should....

Got it all winterized and set for the winter.

I will take the coach in for an oil change and get the intermittent check engine codes looked at.

Question for you all - I have a Powertech generator with a Cat engine in it. When it starts it is rough, shakes a bit, smokes a bit, then settles and runs fine at constant RPM's. Is everybody experiencing the same wehn starting ? Should the start-ups be smoother ? The temperatures outside is down in the 30's, and that would make it a harder start, but I just think it seems to start a bit rough and clunky.....

Still have no clue how we will replace the carpet with laminate in the living room in the area that the slide goes down to floor level. Anybody done that ?

Has anybody tried to put a keyless entry on a 05 or 06 Envoy that did not come from the factory with one ?

I am looking for a WeatherPro main awning remote fob ( the one that is longer and has buttons for the main awning and door) - anybody got one they don't need ? The previous owner lost them....

Anybody installed a generator autostart on a 06 Envoy with he Powertech Generator and Magnum Charger/remote panel ? I got my hands on a autostart module and was wondering if it is worth the trouble to draw a Network wire all the way to the inverter in the back ? BTW, is there another generator start/Stop button in the coach other than the one upfront on the dash and the one on the generator itself ? We had a Winnebago that had 3 of them inside alone - front, mid coach on the electrical panel and in the bedroom- not in this one, unless I don't know where to look....

That is all for now. Thanks again for your help !!

Marius

Mag, you have the Intellitec lighting system and that "all" switch is merely to turn off the backlighting on that pad. Nothing else.....

My Onan generator also starts roughly, spits out black smoke, etc. I think that's normal with these. As for your wanting to install and auto start, MINE has never worked reliably, but I presume others may be satisfied with theirs????? Seems like TS didn't design the system correctly and it reverts to "manual" start if it doesn't start right away. Voltage drops below an acceptable level and it just gives up. There is a start button on the Onan 30 panel...nothing else in these coaches to my knowledge.

I also have the Powertech genset and it doesn't start as you described. Do you perform the Preheat/Prime step before starting? Per the manual, the first step is to depress the Start/Stop switch in the STOP position for 6 seconds. This will both preheat the combustion chambers and prime the fuel. You will hear a clicking noise during this step. Following that press the switch to the START position. Mine starts right up relatively smoothly with no smoke, but I have never used it below 60 Deg F.

Regarding the key fob, is this what you're looking for?
