2008 Envoy 42DL24
I'm looking to purchase a 08 Envoy and wanted to know what all I should look out for? I believe this is the last year they were in business, is the quality up to par or are there issues with a coach this close to the end? It will be the first motorhome for us and I'm just really liking this one because it meets all of our requirements and wants. I will be driving it ALOT(probably 10k/YR or more) and will be towing about 12k worth of trailer with it. I have read about the X brace on here but I planned on reenforcing the chassis some anyways so that doesn't scare me much. Its the other stuff the "residential" part of the MH that has me up at 2am lol. I will of course have it inspected by a professional but they may not know about things this particular year or model suffer from so if I can look or point him in that direction that would be terrific. Cant screw this up

TS kept improving to the end. You may find some bracing...usually in basement, vertically between bays. No common house or chassis issues by 2008, just the usual systems maintenance concerns.
Towing that much trailer, have you considered a Select?

Good to know. I have been looking at all brands and models that meet my requirements, basically I need a MH with a 15k hitch and sleeps at least 6. It seems though that the higher end the model is the lower the sleeping capacity as most ive seen will have recliners or a desk instead of another bed and dining table vs booth. One of the uses for my MH will be to go drag racing and ill need space for 5-6 people for a few days. This particular one I'm looking at has all that and looks good and is priced well so hopefully it will be in a good state. I know people have been able to get more power out of the ISL's with some modifications so this should be enough (fingers crossed).

The ISL comes with 3000 Allison trans, and getting more power from engine could push the trans beyond its limits. A Select always came with the ISM and the 4000 trans.
I hear you about furnishings. A big feature of TS was the factory flexibility to furnish like a buyer wanted, so many variations sold. Just sayin.....

As identified above, the TS's seem to only get better with age and I never heard of any unique problems with 07 or 08 models. Other than the need for the additional chassis bracing, which you seem to have a handle on, you rarely hear of any unhappy owners. Good luck with your purchase.

We own a 2008 Envoy 42DL24 and love it! We've only owned it for about 9 months now, but have had only minor issues with it. We're the 2nd owners and ours came with the X bracing already installed. I don't know if it came from the factory that way or if the previous owner had it installed. We did have the passenger side windshield pop out once, but I think it was from incorrect installation as the center post seal folded over. When we had it reset, it appeared there had been some problems in the past, so this is why I wonder if the previous owner had the X bracing installed. Haven't had any problems since resetting the windshield.
I sometimes tow a 14 foot tandam axle enclosed trailer, but even loaded it's no where near 12,000 lbs. Probably only about 5K, but even without a trailer brake controller, I can't tell it's back there. I'm in the process of installing a trailer brake controller and would recommend the same for you with that big a trailer. I found the pigtail wires for the trailer brake controller behind the instrument panel dash. They were taped together and well labeled.
The only other issues I'm contending with at the moment are the house main power disconnect switch just inside the door doesn't work. I'm still trying to source the problem with that one, but I suspect the solenoid valve in the cargo bay needs replaced. Also, if you plan on boon docking at all, you'll find you'll be running the generator quite a bit if you're like us and have trouble conserving electricity (3 year old son has to have his cartoons in the morning). The 4 house batteries will last about 12 hours before needing recharged and they are fairly new. I'm starting to investigate a solar panel and additional batteries solution that will help so I could get 24 hours out of the batteries before needing to recharge.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Envoy. Every time we travel in it, we love it more.
