Battery Charge/Discharge Cycle

Hello Again

We have a 2005 Travel Supreme Select 45 foot. It is all electric. I am confused about how the battery charge/discharge cycle works. There are 2 trays of house batteries with 4 batteries each and 2 xantrex 2000 watt inverter/chargers. I am thinking on the charge side each inverter charges one tray of batteries but I am wondering how the discharge side works. If all breakers on both inverter panels are turned on do all batteries discharge equally? Or does the refrigerator cause one set of 4 batteries to discharge at a faster rate than the other set of batteries? I guess the question is, is there equal draw on all batteries all the time? The reason for this question is I am wondering if the automatic generator start senses voltage from all batteries or just one set of batteries?

Thanks
Dave

Battery Charge/Discharge Cycle

Ours is set up like this also. So does this mean if I were able to turn off everything in the coach except the refrigerator only one set of four batteries would discharge?

I do not know how your RV is wired but I know how to find out.
Option 1: All batteries are connected together
Option 2: One set is connected to inverter 1, the other to inverter 2

NOW: I also don't know what model Xantrex you have so I will give you two methods for figuring it out.

NOTE: With these large inverters,, Unless you have a second charging system as I do, Whatever charges a battery, also discarges it.

Step one.. If you can DISABLE the charger on ONE and only one inverter.. Do so.

Wait 10 minutes or so (The length depends on load, if a load is present 10 minutes works. Otherwise an hour might be better.)

If the Xantrex has a remote that displays battery voltage,, are they the same, or is one over 13 volts and the other under (IE: 12.6)

If the Xantrex does not have a voltage display, Use your digital multi-meter to measure the battery voltage in each bank.. Again the same or is one over and one under 13 volts?

IF they are Over/Under, than one battery bank is hooked to one inverter and the other to the other, This will be the same no matter if they are charging off shore/generator power or if they are powering your "house". one bank per device.

IF they are the same voltage.. Then the two banks are parallel.

This information is what i needed. I followed your instructions and batteries all stayed at the same level. This should mean that when installing an AGS it should't matter which bank the sense wire is attached to.

Thanks

I am glad you figured it out, on my select the front four batteries crank the generator and the rear four batteries run the refrigerator
