Clunk here we go again
Hi all..
Well we had the right slide in the rear (bed room) start to really get noisy and jerky.. Seems like the transmission on the slide motor is failing.. Loud clunking and jerking.. Fortunately I have a spare (Used) that I bought last year when I bought the used cargo doors that a post at Pilot ate when I tried to get in..
This is the second motor failure I have had.. The other was on the LF "Super Slide" 3 years ago..
Has anyone found someone to rebuild the transmissions on these? The other motor failed in the same way..
Or has anyone found anyone cheaper than Klauber (OEM) for these motors?
I had more trouble removing the cotter keys than the rest of the job put together..
We are at Lake Havasu really enjoying a beautiful sun filled day.. About 70 and clear.. Nice..

I have not found any cheaper than Klauber and to the best of my knowledge they do not rebuild them, only manufacture them.
To ease the removal of the pins on the drive shaft, use a 12" or larger adj. wrench (aka, crescent) on the square tube to move the room in or out manually to ease the pressure if the room is in or out. Just needs to move it a slight bit and should make removal of the pins easier.
56 here in Marathon, Fl...been weird weather here.

Just a roamer..
Thanks for the reply.. Yes, I know about relieving the tension on holding the pins in.. It's the damned cotter keys that I had issues with.. No room to get a good grip with Dikes to remove them.. Yes, I talked with Klauber when I bought my new motor a couple of years ago.. Shame.. Have to just go with a whole new assembly..
But smooth and quiet now..

I'm not familiar with that brand, but when I found a new motor was north of $400, I went to a local motor shop and had it rewound for much less than new. He also rewound a little different than original so I have more torque at just a little slower speed. YMMV.

Powderman..
The problem is that it is not the motor that failed but the transmission.. Wish I could get that redone..
