Dash Heat-2002 Travel Supreme

All,
Its cold here in Indy, prepping for a trip to Florida.
The dash heat only works toward the windshield side of the heat cycle.(defrost).
No matter what setting it is set to on the rotary dial, I can't change the direction of the air flow--never blows toward the aft (rear) side of the coach.
The fan speed work fine, anyone experienced this issue?
Any information will be greatly appreciated, its almost impossible to take the coach to a service center this time of year.

Regards!

If I understand you--it sounds like your dash heater controls are stuck in the neutral position [eg defrost]. Probable cause is the vacuum system [diesel coaches use aux 12v vacuum pump for dash controls] that provides function to the air doors that control air flow. Could be pump itself or a leak[s] in the hoses that distribute the vacuum to the various controls. Locations vary by rig--vacuum pump should be on outside of front bulk head--should here it start/stop as vacuum is needed. If runs continuously, could be a leaking or disconnected hoses that might be reachable on the front bulkhead--thats about all you can do [DIY]....

When key is first turned on your should hear the vacuum pump cycling for 10-15 seconds. If not change the heater control to another setting which should turn on the pump. As Old Scout says this pump activates the doors that direct the heat to different locations. You should hear it cycling.
Let us know your results and we can help troubleshoot further.
