Does anyone know the approx amount of freon required to charge a dash system on a 45 TSS coach?

Thanks in advance Buck

No modern vehicle A/C systems use freon. Most likely R-134a refrigerant. It's not all that much more refrigerant than an auto or truck recharge. Since R-134a is not as efficient as the old R-12 Freon, it's best to use a complete manifold set of gauges to monitor high and low pressures as it's charged. Unless you use a manifold set, it's easy to overcharge and it will cool as poorly as an undercharged system.

Just had mine recharged when they replaced the compressor-5.5#

2005 Beaver Patriot Thunder 40' w/ tag.

I would think it would be similar for any full size coach.

I'm guessing the OP isn't filling an empty system, so the amount of refrigerant he has to add isn't really important. If it was an empty system, the dryer should be replaced and a vacuum pump used to evacuate all the air before charging. The proper amount of lubricating oil should also be added to protect the compressor.

If the system has lost part of it's charge, the leak should be found and repaired, or adding refrigerant will be an oft repeated exercise.

As I said in my first response to this thread, with R-134a, too much is as harmful as too little.

Thanks for all the excellent help. I have determined that the compressor is going south so replacement of that and the dryer at lease. Hopefully the compressor did not trash the system. Flushing , new dryer, evacuating will be needed. I did call Entegra and they were very helpful. Turns out Spartan mounts the compressor and runs the lines but Travel Supreme charged the system. Charge is about 4.5 # of the R 134A. Spartan had a new compressor with clutch with pulley for $350 but "Buy Auto Parts" on line was $158 freight included no tax. Same new Sanden OEM unit both new with clutches pulleys and with warrantee.

Now the only issue is squeezing in the back to make the change.

Thanks again !!
