Fresh water tank issue

We have a 2003 TS 40' DSO2. This is a weird one. Recently I flushed my fresh water tank, no problem done it a few times before. I left the fill valve open and the tank overflowed. Poured out through the overflow tubes with no problems. The tank was full at that point but the next day I noticed it was about 75% full. Was using city water at he time so no reason for the tank to drain. Today I looked inside the cabinet where the water heater is located and noticed the tank was caved in by about 3-4 inches at the top. My assumption is that the tank siphoned through the overfill tubes and created a serious suction which caused the collapse. I tried filling it a little to see if it would expand but it didn't. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Not sure what I can do about it other than replacing the tank. Everything is functioning fine at this time. Should I worry?

Not sure, but if you were on pump and the overflow tubes (vents) and the pump drew down the tank via use, then you could have created a vacuum, not likely, not impossible. Could try turning off pump and opening a faucet and then drain the tank a bit.
Hopefully, you did not blow a seam in the tank while overfilling.
The tank is flexible and does billow when full and the top becomes concave a bit, which is normal. The top of the tank is thinner material than bottom and sides.
Not impossible for the siphon to happen...this is weird, let us know what you figure out...

Unless you stressed a seam you should be ok. If you lost 25% of your water through a cracked seam you should see a wet floor around the tank.

If it were mine i would open the manual drains and a faucet for venting and allow the tank to empty itself. I would refill the tank, being careful to not overfill, and check the top of the tank again. Hopefully everything will be back to normal.

As Roamer said, let us know the results as we have all been there at one time or another.

Fresh water tank issue

Sorry it took awhile to get back to you all, had an illness in the family.

I filled the tank again but stopped when it got to the top before overflowing. The tank top expanded to almost flat. Never though that would happen but seems like a normal occurrence. Everything is working fine. Won't fix what's not broke.
Thanks.
