Generator slide

My generator slide would not operate. I had the solenoid replaced. It opens now, but, once the engine is shut off and it looses pressure the slide will open (if on a down hill sloop). It never did this on this 45TSS or the 43 TSS I have owned. The repair shop said they all do this. Do they? I hear air leaking in the front at the gen slide. Is it a bad solenoid? Once the engine is started and pressure comes up the slide closes without touching the switch.

Gary:

I don't have a lot of experience with this. Mine opens when the ignition is on and I press the switch. Not necessarily engine running. If I turn the ignition to off it gradually will creep back. With gen slide switch in off it never comes open by itself. I wonder if they replaced the solenoid with the correct one?

It could be that you have the wrong cylinder or the air lines are not connected correctly. I had a bad leak in mine and could not find a replacement anywhere, so I'm curious what they replaced it with. Entegra cylinders are 6" short. I had to repair mine.
