I didn't realize how much I would miss the air coil hide a bed from my Tiffin.
Has anyone looked into retrofitting the DS sofa to a hide a bed? I have a TSSL 45DL24 and need a little more sleeping space.
I am in the furniture retail business, so getting the mechanism and mattress won't be a problem.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Jeff

Are you saying you don't have a hide-a-bed in this coach? I don't think I've seen a TS WITHOUT a sleeper in the couch. As I remember, in the later years TS used two or three different length sofas, depending on floorplan, most all equipped with an air over coil hide-a-bed mattress. If you don't have one of those, you can simply find one that fits and go for it.

Here are pictures of the DS from both angles.
I didn't realize the bed was standard equipment.

I guess maybe this is one of the many customizations that the previous owner had done.
All I have is a futon on both sides of the front salon.
The DS sofa includes a recliner in the seat directly behind the driver's seat, and the PS sofa/ 2-seater love seat, is also a smaller futon and has 2 recliners.
I'd gladly trade all three recliners for a air coil hide-a-bed on the DS.
Might have to look into this further... Don't how hard it might be to match the black leather.

OK, now I see which one you have. The early designs of your style of furniture did have a rather crude flip down sofa, but I've seen a recent Essex which has an air over coil bed. But I believe yours is a Flexsteel brand and the Essex, I think, still has a Villa sofa. You can call Villa out in California and tell them what you have and see if theirs might match up to your dinette setup. Of course, I'm sure they can sell you the entire setup-cafe table and all for an added cost.

When you have a pull-out sofa bed on the DS, there generally isn't room for another one on the OS. Having said that, I think I've seen some models which accommodated a flip down (jacknife) bed along with a sofa bed, but not sure how they had the room. Perhaps a shorter sofa bed was used?

It may be that Flexsteel now offers a better bed for that setup. I also believe I've seen your setup where a conventional sofa bed was installed forward of the cafe seat setup-the only criteria is the backing behind the cafe seat-is it finished out so it looks good?

As a matter of interest, when I ordered my Alante I asked for Villa captains chairs up front, just because I'd seen them in an Essex and loved the firmer feel. They were able to order them from Villa and even get the leather material and color matched so they coordinate perfectly As you know from your furniture business, these guys are able to talk the same language and make things work. It looks like you have Ultraleather, which is the most common material used these days, so color matching shouldn't be a problem.

There is also a retailer in the Elkhart area called "Bradd and Hall" which deals in RV furniture. They may be able to help you further. If you Google "RV Furniture" I think you'll find a few more.

Unless you really need that love seat, most TS setups installed a 60 " long desk on the OS, complete with two stacks of drawers and doors in the knee hole area which houses a large printer, etc. A pull-out for the keyboard and you are all set! I find this is a great setup for doing business on the road and that loveseat isn't useful anyway.

When you boil it all down, that Travel Supreme outfit really was ahead of the others in a lot of areas.

Jeff I have the same setup in my Select. That sofa/recliner does make into a bed. There is a tab under the cushion in the center just pull that then it will fully recline. Not sure how comfy it is but it is a bed.
