How to order correct electric steps for older motorhome.

I have a 2001 Travel Supreme DS-01 and I need to order a new set of double electric steps.

The mishap occurred last spring when the steps failed to retract after starting the engine and I caught them on the edge of a retaining wall along my driveway. I had previously had problems with the steps extending, sometimes having to tap on the motor with a rubber mallet to get them to work. I had never had trouble with retracting until this one time.

Anyway, I bent the steps up so badly, that they wouldn't retract at all and I had to remove them from the motorhome. Without thinking about the importance of doing so, I didn't get any measurements of the steps prior to my roommate tossing them in the back of a pick-up and hauling them off to the dump.

I looked at information in my owners packet, and there is a pamphlet there on Kwikee electric steps, but of course there are several models to choose from.

I did some quick measuring last night of the bolting pattern from the underneath side of the motorhome, and a couple measurements of the opening beneath the door where the steps retract. What worries me, is the bolting pattern I measure on the bottom does not match exactly the dimensions provided by Kwikee. I measured a 22"x8.5" pattern, but their information shows a 22"x8". I realize, putting on new steps I have the option of creating new mounting holes so that probably isn't that much of a deal. However, because of this one discrepancy, I have concerns with ordering without a specified model.

However, I want to be absolutely sure I am ordering the correct steps. With Travel Supreme now being out of business, I'm not sure who I can contact to get this information.

I'm hoping perhaps there is another DS-01 owner online who has that information readily available, and can assist. I do appreciate any input on the place to gather this information prior to ordering.

Thanks so much.

You should be able to decide with the info from PPL.... They have great service and good prices on just about everything. Here is the link to the Kwikee page...
