Porch Light Bulbs

Anyone know what the correct bulb for the porch light on an 06 TS Select?

I've got a 1156 taillight bulb in there (was in there) and it melted the plastic light cover.

Also are there any other types of bulbs that will provide more light, the 1156 gave off a lot of light but maybe too much

More light =More heat=more melt. You could try a LED light as they do not produce heat like the old bulbs do.

Cilrah,
I use LEDs also I think a Revolution 2000 led bulb might work if your bulb is sideways. You can adjust this bulb so it can aim more towards the ground.

try a 93/67/1003 bulb if you want old school. The 93 has more than twice the life of the other bulbs but I would look for L.E.D. bulb. More light and less heat

I used amber LED arrays, as in bug light, this matched the lens on the light and means more light is transmitted through the lens. Works great.

I talked with Dave at DJ Specialties and he said the original bulb is a 1003.

I did try an LED but the way it faced it gave off very little light. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to check into other type LED's

The auto store has 2 different single contact 12 v bulbs that fit. Use the lower amp bulb as the other one will melt the plastic cover.

Cilrah,
For sure LED will do the job with very little heat. I may not have clearly described my suggestion last time. When you look at the socket, is it facing you so the end of the bulb points towards you too? Or is the socket horizontal so you see the side of the socket?
If it is sideways check out the Revolution series LED bulbs. I installed a motion sensor "smartlight" it think it's called. and it has the Revolution LED bulb. It is great. But you can just get the bulb for your light too.

Thanks for the help drwyatt and Tim.

I bought a 1003 equilvant Super White LED bulb 2-pack on eBay for $4.95. Wow these are bright like I wanted and after being on all night when I touched to cover, it was cool to the touch, perfect

The rest of the story is, I for a 2 in the amount, the 2-pack was $24.95. Well worth it, they are great light bulbs
