I currently an 2010 entry level class A motor home. I'm considering the big step up to a DP. I've been looking at the major brands but last week a dealer showed me a 2006 TS Select with 4 slides and a 500HP Cummins engine. I thought a coach of this class was out of my price range but at 6 model years old, the price might just be doable.

I'm just starting my research and would like to solicit members of this community to get their perspective on TS. How does the coach hold up after 5-10 years. Do the drawers and door still operate properly? Are the floors, roof and exterior still in good condition? Does the exterior still sparkle? How does the engine and chassis hold up? Do you get good service from the dealer and or service network? Are there post-manufacturing mods that have to be made to make the coach more durable? If I buy a 6 year old coach of this class, am I making an investment with many years of service to go or am I buying a repair project?

I know that from time to time problems come up, but I'm trying to get a sense in overal manufacturer reputation and quality. If you were in the market for another coach, would you consider a TS/Entegra coach?

Thanks.

My TS is 4 years old right now from build date and the only thing i do is regular maintaince . Just changed the 4 house batteries out this last weekend. a few adjustments that I either do myself or take to Bishop in Elkhart IN . Some of the older TS models need the X bracing to keep the front windsheilds from popping and it also makes chassis stiffer thus a better ride. Depending on the model will be the type of chassis from Spartan that the coach is riding on. Most will be a Spartan Mountain Master, K2 or K3.
Reliablity is exceptional to say the least. Yes I would buy another TS model or an Entrega.

I have an 06 Select, and have found it to be a superb MH. I operate in the midwest, which has made it convenient to have maintenence, repairs, and improvements made by shops who either provided the original systems or whose staff used to work at the TS factory.

Very high quality coach, using the best systems & equipment reasonably available in 06.

Just parked mine last week beside a new Cornerstone, and found very few differences. Keepin mine!

Our TS is a 2002. We have had it for 1.5 yrs. We have no problems with the house part of it. The chassis works well but did suffer from some neglect that showed up and needed repairs. The exhaust rusted thru and was replaced. The radiator was not cleaned and needed to be replaced. If the manual was followed, it would not have failed. We replaced the original tires this year due to their age and showing some dry rot cracking. Next year the batteries are going to be replaced. I do all of my own repairs. Our 1989 Encounter was handed over to the kids. It too is still in good shape.

Overall, the TS is a sound unit. We are glad we have it.

We loved our Travel Supreme Alante and had very good luck with it. It was a 2007 and we loved it so much we traded for its close sibling a 2011 Entegra, built to very closely the same specs as the Travel Supreme. We had no reason to trade it except we just wanted a new one, nothing wrong and it was holding up extremely well. It is on the dealers lot at K&C Rv in Longmont Co. and will make someone a great coach, complete with almost new MCD powered blinds throughout the coach. Darn, just should not have stopped to look at those new ones!!!!, otherwise we would still be driving it. just our experience.

I have Gene's "twin" Alante and just put new rubber on it, so have decided to keep it. In fact, as I looked at other coaches from Tiffin and Newmar, I just can't find anything that would match up with this coach or the new Entegras. So, if the time comes....I know which will get my first look again....the Entegra! I recommend you grab this one ASAP.

I am looking at your old TS 45. Did you have the X bracing done on it?

The reputation of Travel Supreme contributed somewhat to our decision to buy the Entegra Coach Anthem. Besides all the positive comments on the RV forums we checked J R Consumer resources and as well RV.org Consumer Group. Both these organizations rate RV's including numerous Class A DP's by model year. Each give Travel Supreme an extremely good rating. Check them out.

Dick, yes it has had the X bracing done by Bishop in Elkhart. In addition we replaced the dish when it was new with a winegard Traveler and loved it also. We put the MCD powered shades in in December 2010. We also had Bishop replace the camera system with a new Sony system when the coach was new(the vanguard system did not work right and the manufacture refused to honor the warranty). The front tires should be replaced soon (maybe already have as the dealer swore that he would have to replace them to sell it). We resealed the fiberglass roof to the sidewall last spring after it was in a hail storm. All three air conditioners and the aluminum side rails(where the roof attaches to the sidewalls) were also new at that time in addition to all the roof vents. The hail damage was $21,000 and it looked like new when we got it back. We replaced to outside tv which was analog with an LCD when we bought the coach new. We also installed an auto gen start system at that time. That proved to be a mistake as it does not seem to get enough voltage to the genny to start it. I think the cable from the batteries is too small and should be larger for it to work right, just never got around to doing that. It also needs one new slide out topper (did not roll up right and the wind whipped it all one day before we found it, resulted in some fraying). Otherwise I do not know of anything the coach needs. If you have any questions I will be glad to answer them just pm me. It will make someone a great coach, we just wanted a new one.

I still have a 2006 42' Insignia Select and recently purchased a 2008 Select Limited and would not want another brand, they are great.

Another happy owner here. I've experience no issues with any of the items you've identified above and mine is the entry level model. The X-bracing on some models/sizes appears to be the only real issue and by all reports I have read, the fix is reasonable and works well.

If I was to say anything bad, it would be lack of TS documentation on the house (but that is relatively easy to figure out) and it seems very few people (including campground owners/staff) even heard of Travel Supreme. I can no longer count how many times I've been asked who makes Travel Supreme? Then again, maybe that's a good thing !!

The bottom line for me is, if something was to happen to my TS this morning, I'd buy another one this afternoon. Consider it and good luck with your search.

Lou

So what was the model line up in 06? What was the entry level to top end?

And thanks for all the feedback and comments.

Gene,
Thanks a million for those comments. That is a huge help. I am really glad about the x bracing. I am going to buy it and your info helped a lot. Thanks
