Have not had that problem with the smart wheel BUT I DID have to replace the board controlling the smart wheel as I lost all controls on it, cruise, headlights, horn, turn signals etc, HOWEVER, my rear and both side cameras still worked. Bottom line, I would not be sure that the smart wheel is the problem IF everything else works, signal light work but no side camera? If that is the case, I would rather believe that the problem is in the camera system. Travel Supreme was using the Weldex system and it is notoriusly BAD. Mine works intermitantly, back camera goes out the most(probably because of the long wire run) but presently the left side camera is not working. Had it checked at Supreme RV service and Bishop says the only satisfactory fix is to scrap the Weldex system and replace it with another brand(must run new wires because noone else uses the same connectors as Weldex). Just a thought but you might want to do some further checking before you spend big bucks replacing the smart wheel circuit board. Mine had corroded the contacts as water had gotten into the compartment somehow. just my experience. Mine is an 07 45ft. Alante. Gene

PS == If the smatwheel is bad that SHOULD be a Spartan warranty item if your coach is still new enough to be covered by the Spartan warranty.

I have not seen a camera/monitor system involve the smart wheel system. Depending on the monitor, the cameras may come to a video control selector that is triggered by the turn signal voltage. from there the output is sent to the monitor, which may or may not be a dash stereo/monitor system. Some dash stereo/monitors have a built in video selector, again triggered by the turn signal voltage.
If you have a trigger voltage into the selector and it does not respond then it is the selector or monitor with selector built in. You can switch cameras to check the camera themselves. I hope I have not confused you; if so, let me know and give me the specific detail of your system and I will try to help you troubleshoot it.

What model Weldex system do you have? Is the monitor a Weldex also?

I did some repairs to my weldex system and it has now worked flawlesly for 9 months no problems. It all has to do with poor connectors and the voltage it was designed to work on.

I found out that for some reason the camera sys do goes through the smart wheel controller, the dealer tech. switch the controller from another t/s unit and the system work good. So a new one is on order, ($600.00) the unit is under a Spartan warranty.

Thanks for the update, live and learn, cant imagine why it needs to go through the smart wheel controller but that is nice to know. Rick would you please elaborate on what all you did to get your system working properly. Mine ACTS like it could be bad connections to me and I would like to know what you did so that I could pursue my problems and maybe keep from having to replace the entire system. Thanks, Gene

I am back again with the rear camera problem. For some reason the rear do not work just a blank picture, I`ll not take it back to the dealer. They spent $600.00 on something that was not the problem, I hate to drive this big rig without a rear camera. Any Surjection

aliza46, are the left and right turns still working properly? Does the rear come on in reverse? If so you may want to recheck the rear camera polarity in the monitor menu.

first thing to do is cut out and solder all camera connections. That means for a weldex about 6 round pin connectors to cut out and solder.I also sugest soldering the right and left and rear signals.my system senses right and left through the front marker lights through a diode not the smart wheel.I have changed the power to my weldex with 2 different means i am going to tell you the simpler of the two.Go to a radio shack or a car radio shop and get some #8 monster cable and run it to your main DC bus and connect this to the feed for the weldex.
