The 295-80-22.5 is a taller tire so there would be at least a change in mph on meter. Would want to check with Spartan before you make the change. You don't want to change to 295-70-22.5 because that tire has a lower weight caring limit. Have not have heard of anyone doing the change you are talking about.

The early 2007 Alantes had 295 tires, but sometime around coach #1850 or so they went to 315's. If it had 315's on it, then one can assume the speedo was calibrated to that size. While the 295's may be satisfactory, given a preference, I would insist on staying with the 315's. These are cheaper to replace and they carry more weight....seems like a no-brainer to me.

Here is an interesting web site. Enter the 2 tire sizes and then click calculate to see the difference in the 2 tires. Cool

Just re-read this thread...i didn't note you were talking about 70 series tires. But I do remember TS messing around with those size tires about Dec or January, 2006. They built a few coaches that way then discontinued because the profile didn't look right. Still, my other comments are accurate. I'd try for the 315/80's if I were you.

Thanks for the information, I call Spartan direct and talked to Shane he looked up the Vin # and it came with 305/70/22.5 each coach is spec out and Spartan did not recom. changing to a different size. I thought the look was about the same just the 80s are a little wider than 70s. Thanks again

Interesting thing about the 295 vs 305 tires: in the Michelin XRV line, the two sizes have the same weight capacity.

My problem with the XRV line is that it's too stiff, and the ride is much rougher than the XZA line.

My 2006 Select has the granite floor option, and the front axle was overloaded. I bit the bullet and bought 315 XZA1 tires for the front, with wider wheels so the load capacity could increase...and with only 10 lbs lower pressure, my ride improved like it was a new coach!

VERY tight fit in front, and must be certain tires are straight before leveling the coach at a campsite. However, they never rub under any circumstance when we're aired up and traveling.

Don't think 315s would fit inside the rear wheel wells...but also don't need that extra weight capacity back there, since the load is off the lower end of Michelin's inflation table.

Suggest you check the numbers on the web page and do some measurements for wheelwell clearance. The extra 3" of diameter might create some clearance problems, especially when turning or when the air bags are deflated.
