Screen door handle replacement

I have a PTL door and screen. I ordered a replacement handle for the screen door, there are no directions with the handle. Has anyone had to do this I have tried multiple combinations of placement of the latch and can not get it work correctly

I changed my latch a couple years ago. The new latch did not work either. I noticed the old latch had been modified to work properly. I had to file the striker to allow the latch to properly close. I was able to use old latch as a rough guide of where to file.
