Steps on a 2005 Travel Supreme

I bought a 2005 Travel Supreme Envoy. I have to store it for a few months in a paid storage lot. Got it all buttoned but could not figure out how to raise the steps to get them out of the way. Anybody know?

You should have a step switch one way keeps it out and the other it will go in and out as the door opens and closes

I missed that this is a motorhome. Only one switch which disables the automatic function of the door. If that switch is on when you power off, the steps will stay out when you close the door.

Go in and turn the switch off, turn the engine on and off and when you close the door, the step should retract.

If the steps don't retract, then you have a problem with the door sensors.

As you enter the rig, next to the door on the left side you should have three small rocker switches. One is for the 12 VDC disconnect (often referred as the salesman switch), one is for the rope light that illuminates the steps and one is for the step power. In the "ON" position the steps will go up or down whenever the door is open or closed. In the "OFF" position the steps will stay in whatever position they are in regardless of door position. The only exception is if the engine is running the steps will retract whenever the door is closed.

Will you have power to the rig in storage? If not, then I suggest you turn the "salesman switch" off and remove the fuses to the CO and Propane detectors (two 1 amp fuses located in the small electrical compartment just forward of the Driver's Side front tire). Otherwise you may return to a few drained batteries. If you have power to the rig, then ignore this step. Good luck.

Found the sensor it is on the lower left corner of the door, looks like a plastic plug. The magnet is on the door in the frame and looks the same. It appears that my motor is bad.

When my step motor failed, actually it was the gear mechanism attaced to the motor. I could hear the motor spinning but no step action.

Easy fix, three screws and flip the drive gear from the oldmotor to the new.
