TS 40DS04 Bed S/O Adjustment
Hi all,
We just purchased a 2004 TS 40DS04 and have been working on the tweaks. When the bedroom vanity slide is out, the header facia at the top rear is about 1" out from the wall, while the top front, bottom front, and bottom rear are all tight to the sidewall.
I don't see any adjustment bolts on the slide rams. Does anyone have any adjustment suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Bryan

Bryan,
Welcome to the Travel Supreme group. We are glad you are here and think you will be happy with your purchase.
My sequence is to open the bed slide first and then the vanity. While opening the vanity slide I push out at the top to keep it vertical as it moves. The top of mine wants to lean inboard during extension. When I do this there is a noticeable lessening of stress on the slide motor and it definitely helps with the end result. Hopefully this will help.
There will be others who will chime in with different suggestions as time passes. Let us know what solved your problem

If you lift the bed to access the slide carriage mechanism, inspect where the drive rail connects to the foot of the bed. This was a notorious weak spot as the drive rail only attached with a 1x6 sandwiched between the paneling. Look for signs of loose lags, previous repairs, etc. If the drive rail is not exactly in the proper position, then the slide may not align properly at both ends. A way to confirm this is to run the slide out and then disconnect where the drive rail is screwed/lagged to the foot of the bed. Then manually attempt to see if the ends will align properly. If you can then note if the holes still align, if they don't, then you may need to reset where the drive rail connects to the foot of bed. Also, be sure The bolts for the drive assy. is tight to the Floor. Mine only had 2 from the factory, I added 2 more. I also rebuilt the foot of the bed and it is now completely solid end to end and top to bottom, instead of hollow in areas.
Check to see if all rollers are tight to floor and not tipping as the slide moves. The roller mounts are only screwed to the floor with #8 screws.
Should be 3 or 4 rollers (mine has 4) depending on floorplan. If you have a roller under the lav, be sure it is not tearing loose from the "box" it is screwed to.
Roller adjustments should not be needed and be careful if you adj. Out side must align properly to the outside when in or you could damage outside trim when going in.
Also, the roller on the top side of the drive rail is just a hollow one with bearings pressed in at both ends. Due to space between the roller mounts, I have seen the bearings come out of the ends of the roller tube...can be fixed by adding spacers (washers) to eliminate any space between roller and mounts.

I think the OP is talking about the vanity slide not the bed slide.

Yes, I was talking about the vanity slide in the bedroom. As you can see from the picture, the front of the s/o is pretty straight. The top, back of the s/o is tipping inward over 1".
I hope these pictures upload ok.

Ours do also. Seems to be the way the system is designed.

Did pushing at the top of the slide during extension help? You will need to apply enough force to keep the slide vertical during extension.

pushing on the top didn't help mine. The top FRONT corner is nice and tight. it's the back top corner that is in about 1". I believe I need to adjust the slide

If it were me, my next move would be to call Paul Conley, (574) 862-6778, at Pauls RV Repair. He has forgotten more about Travel Supreme coaches than most people will ever know. I'd be willing to wager he has seen this problem before. He can be hard to get in contact with but the result is usually worth the effort.

I just had a broken roller replaced at Paul's RV Service & Interiors. 574-862-6778 My left side bedroom slide was making an awful noise when retracted and it was not setting level when pulled in. I also had Paul replace all the slide seals and install new carpet. It made it look like a new coach. Paul also fixed several other items while the coach was there. They did a great job.
