What is this? Hydraulic Fluid Filter?
Hi!
We are brand new TS owners!!! A gorgeous 2005 TS DS04. Looking for some advice.......we had our first issue already where road debris kicked up and snapped off what appears to be a filter. Fluid immediately came out until we stopped the engine after getting parking safely. This filter was mounted near the muffler. We think it is the hydraulic fluid filter, but here are photos if anyone could confirm. We have a mechanic coming out tomorrow. Any other advice on what may need to be done is greatly appreciated. Never used this mechanic before.
Thank you!!!

Looks more like a fuel filter to me. Are the numbers on it more visible than shows on the pictures? It's a Baldwin filter and you might be able to do a search on the numbers.

It does look like a fuel filter. I'm also wondering if it is from the water separation system located on the passenger side rear of the coach located very close to the muffler/tail pipe ? I'm glad that you were able to notice it quickly.

By the number, you are correct, it is a hydraulic filter and Walmart carrys them.....cheap! https://www.walmart.com/ip/BALDWIN-F...in-On/40917117
If you take it to a local NAPA store, they can cross the number and hand you one quick.........
What kind of shape is the filter mount in????? did the impact snap the threaded male part on the filter mount off?? and is it in the filter in your hand??

I think it may be the anti freeze filter. They have them mounted by the fuel filter and the air dryer. There would be 2 valves on each side of the filter if I am correct.

Yes, the mount was busted off, so we have to get that replaced too. There wasn't enough threads left on the mount to make us comfortable it would securely hold the replaced filter. According to the mechanic, this hydraulic system controls the engine air cooler (not sure why that isn't electric).

On that Spartan chassis, the hydraulic fluid powers the power steering and the cooling fan drive motor. The hydraulic fan motor is used because of the side mounted radiator. There is also a filter within the hydraulic reservoir tank that I've only been able to find in the Spartan parts store. Their tech support is very helpful.
