Thumbs down Wire routing for King Dome

Hi. New to the forum. Have a 2007 Insignia 40DS04. Want to upgrade the King Dome to a Winegard Trav'ler to get HD on DirectTv. Does anyone have knowledge of how the wiring is routed and how you get at it? My King Dome is mounted right over the ceiling mirror in the living room and the main TV is the 40" LCD mounted amidships. I tried pulling a cover off the a/c ducts to see if they were used but no wires there. ???

YngRetiree,
I have a 2003 - 40DS02 (3 slide).
I have a KVH satellite antenna up top.
A few years ago, I needed to do some rewiring of the A/V system to allow for using both (not at the same time) the KVH antenna and a tripod mounted HD antenna.

When I went up top, I found that the KVH had 2 output wires connected to it. One for the Livingroom TV and one for the Bedroom TV. Both were wired down to the Overhead cabinet in the cockpit where the original A/V switch had been located.
I then did my rewiring. I found that I could run a couple of wires from the back of the overhead cabinet DOWN into the generator compartment and then to the rear from there in the ceiling of the basement compartment(s). Worked out fine.
I also found that I could run the coax wire from the electric compartment over the frame and up into the cabinet that the TV sits in, going through the hamper and electrical cabinet. Wasn't too hard but would have been easier with 2 people instead of one.

If you want to see a wiring diagram of what I did, just ask.

Hope this helps.

routing cables for Winegard

i installed a Winegard Traveler also...The original cables for the King Dome were routed during the build and they are stapled to wood, etc. so you won't be able to do a wire pull. You will have to drill a whole in the roof above the passenger seat cabinet where all of your video/audio wires are. Bring the coax cable along with the communications cable through the cabinet and then you will have access to plug everything in. Secure the cables to the roof and also install a Winegard entry plate cover the the cables that transition through the roof. Seal it up good and you are good to go. One other option is to bring the cables through the roof above the TV Mid Ship cabinet and down the back of the tv cabinet.

Welcome!
I have a 2007 42 ft envoy. Motorhome Specialists installed the dome..
Ran the cable on top, with the use of silicone, to hold the cable down, over to the door. Above the door is a compartment where they installed the switch and routed the cable from the top. The AV equipment is the compartment to the right as one look out the front window. Easy to get the cable to the AV equipment from this point.. Oh yes! fill the hole with self leveling caulking..
HOPE THIS HELPS..

Smile Wiring

First, thanks to members OldHatt45, mmartin, and Redonion. What a great and helpful response. From the answers and looking at my coach it seems like there wasn't any standard way to mount and wire these. I don't know if my dome was installed at the factory or at the selling dealers but it is a very "clean" installation so I'm guessing factory. On my coach there are two coax cables coming from the dome. One of them goes directly to the midship TV cabinet and the other goes to the bedroom. They are not routed through the front compartment. So it appears that I will be able to use these as they are. Just mount my SWM splitter on the roof. The signal cable is another matter. The dome cable goes to the cabinet over the front door. But since the Trav'ler control box needs 110ac I think I will follow the suggestion to drill down directly to the midship tv cabinet and put the controller there. That will take some careful measuring Again, thanks for the help and advice.
